Am I the only one staying on the Old Gen version for M25?

Tried once again to make the switch to the current gen version of M24… just can’t see myself enjoying this gameplay for M25, especially when people are saying if feels even more sluggish on defense… UGH!

I wasn’t even going to get Madden 25 but my wife has tacitly endorsed another year of grinding when she bought me the deluxe edition as a birthday present.  I’m pretty sure this is the last year EA will have an old gen version… I just hope I’m not the only one playing over there lol.  Other than that, all I’m hoping for is that they keep the same old playbooks so I can continue with my Saints offense.    

Anyone else postponing the move to the current gen version and it’s awful gameplay?

LOL . I am also staying on PS4 for MUT25. I wanted to walk away I also thought this the last year on old generation too. I never played MUT for PS5/XBOXS/X. But I heard it like get used to Madden all over again. I don't know how true that is.

The menu system is different but that doesn’t take too long to adapt to.  I definitely prefer the old system for making adjustments, formation subs, and custom audibles…but the current gen approach is easy enough.  
 

Ive been using the Saints Playbook for about 8 years now and pretty much have it memorized.  I routinely use over a dozen formations and can navigate around very quickly.  It would really suck to have to learn a new playbook.

 But by far the worst thing about the current gen version is that it’s more “sim” style and I love to be able to user lurk and bait bad throws. There isnt a lot of that on current gen.

You get used to it quickly.  Just do it.

I’ve tried to make the switch four times now between M23 and M24.  I honestly don’t know how you guys can stand the lack of defense.  Good players can just move the ball up and down the field at will.  Games are decided by who has the ball last or who gets the lucky dice rolls.

It took me a while to get used to new gen. Hated it, now I can't even bother old gen. Beginning of the year is the time to play around. But overall for max gameplay is current gen. I'm not dropping 500$ just to play the old version

I hear ya.  I usually spend about that much at the start if the season to get a decent team and can then make coins by winning SBs and playing the market.

Eventually they're gonna ditch old gen or make more abilities for new. Might as well start sooner than later

I might just retire then... rather than play a game I don't enjoy any more.  

At least I get another year of this silly hobby of ours.

Word on the street is that there actually are (at least a couple) new abilities this year.  I saw some that were +Pass Block and +Run Block, but i'm spacing on the actual names.  Instead of Secure Protector, it'll be something liek Pass Protector and/or Run Protector.  Instead of Linchpin and Protected, which i believe are intended to boost the entire O-line, perhaps these are individual abilities?  Hard to say.

Doesn't feel super revolutionary, however i know nothing.

Can't hate you guys for not wanting to revamp a decade+ (if not significantly) more of gameplay experience on a version you've come to know liek the back of your hand.  Seems i dropped in at just the right time, just had a brief taste of last-gen MUT on PS4 Pro before we finally managed to secure a PS5 during COVID era.  After 1000+ hours playing on current, the last time i tried PS4 it felt liek everyone was skating around on ice.  Very bizarre and the "Classic" passing mechanics are absolutely horrendous.

The strangest yet is the folks who make the jump to PS5 current gen version of the game, but then refuse to use the Placement & Accuracy passing mechanic.  That stuff is literally game-changing, really missing out.  Linebackers not being able to animate (due to lack of LurkArtist) feels liek another massive, gaping hole in basic gameplay.  I guess it doesn't matter, that's why everyone runs Dollar with six Safeties on the field.

OVerall, trying to temper my expectations, but i'm guilty of buying into the hype machine -- it's NFL season, baby.

Is M25 even available in old gen? I’ve heard its not but if can stay another year on old gen then I will. Old gen is a lot less sweaty and actually enjoyable to play imo. I’ve tried next gen on PS5 but it’s not it
