WHY? I just spent half my day building Eagles TT and got it where I want it around 40. Kinda pissed to learn this now.
what are they doing, they don't want us to have fun do they :p
I’ve been out of MUT the last few years (JJ/Dallas Turner got me football fever again) and this is one of the worst changes from what I recall. Theme Teams were/are a major part of the draw of this mode, as evidenced by the tabs on this site and the promos in game dedicated to the concept. This 20/20 with less boosts completely neuters it.
As far as I can tell, it’s a not really at all veiled attempt to push out the “casuals” that largely play to build theme teams around their favorite teams, players that arent as likely to spend on every prom/release to chase whatever the meta is. Pushing promo chems/boosts pretty well gives that away. Pushing out Team Builders early after making this kind of change would be hilarious if it wasn’t so terrible.
The BND change sucks too. IIRC, this used to be NAT and you could at least use them in sets? Although I’m only like 50% confident I’m remembering that correctly. I DO remember having way more to do at launch as far as solos/challenges and those actually rewarding you decently with packs/coins/players to build around while you waited for the cards you wanted to drop. I remember it taking me a couple weeks to catch up on launch content and the early released stuff, this time it took me a day or 2. Counting stats actually counting for something, non-gated XP, and a MUT Master to work for helped motivate engagement too.
MUT’s always been pay to win, early read on the changes from a returnee perspective are it’s very nearly pay to play at this point. Gutting theme teams being the most personal finger to the ”casuals”.
I'm a theme team lifer. I feel your pain fellas.
Every change they make is done out of GREED. They think if we have our favorite teams built we won't buy packs. This sucks.

Love this post as it’s all true. And yes you’re correct NAT cards were non-auctionable and tradeable but could be used in sets. NAT cards were insanely better than BND.
It does suck to see them seemingly try to remove the fun of theme teams. My only hope was with each season another boost got added. Maybe season 2 brings 25/25. I thought team builders might unlock another 5/5 that way it would keep the cards relevant all year round but I was wrong about that.
I’m sticking to my Bills theme team and if it means I’m at a massive disadvantage it is what it is.
I'd assume they are going to update the tiers with every new season no? But that is just me guessing.

Thanks for the confirmation on my memory. I also KNOW when you had to put Hero’s into a champ set, you got them back NAT. That appears to be gone now too. Not sure who thought these were good moves. Fun/engagement are what games are all about and they seem to be squeezing those out for an NFL skinned gambling addiction money siphon.
I hope they add additional tiers to theme teams with each season but I’m not exactly going to hold my breath on that.
