Defense is rough right now

Wow, didn't realize how spoiled I was coming into the end of Madden 24. I got my buddies mut team up to 98 in March or April.

Then I restarted my own in July and I was able to get like an all 98 team within a few weeks.

I assumed it would be the same when Madden 25 started. Man was I wrong, didn't realize how useful things like knockout catch was, or or bulrush on my DTS. Not having backyard quarterback is a bummer too.

This is not me whining I just surprised which I guess I shouldn't be how different things are the following year early on.

Yea the beginning of the year for mut is usually rough on defense.

The players move too slow (speed parity is probably high) and don't react well on defense till they start hitting the higher thresholds.

When we start getting more guys with 90+ zone/man/prc/awr then the game becomes a lot more fun IMO.

I was so afraid things would be difficult, if not impossible in the opposite direction -- typically, before QBs get some type of velocity ability (SFL/PLE) it's ridiculously brutal to pass the ball, but this year QB releases are much improved. Heck, i don't think i've tried a QB yet that wasn't at least decent. Matthew Stafford 85 OVR (my Day 1 QB) was probably the worst of the bunch. From there i went; Kyler Murray, Jordan Love, Aaron Rodgers, Anthony Richardson, Tom Brady, now using Jayden Daniels, because he was free. I panicked and sold my Brady too soon, ahh well.

But yeah, vastly different feel to the game this year. Even my lone corner that has 90 MCV is constantly getting cooked, even at 87 SPD. It's tough out there, for sure. Good luck, gentlemen.
