It's just spamming glitch corners, and managing clock. It's boring, and frustrating. Otherwise, it seemed like the game was off to a decent start. Hopefully they patch the custom route stem glitch soon
It’s 99% stem glitches all the normal people are playing college football. This is just too sweaty and won’t be good for the gam.
And when corners get KOs offense will be impossible again. Same cycle as last madden
Managing clock is part of the game.
And can flip on you and work against you.
Its the stem glitch that desperately needs a fix
This is why I don't bother playing online anymore. I just enjoy collecting players and building up my theme team. It helps me keep up with who's doing well during the season and is a fun way to celebrate those players/teams throughout the season. I've just accepted that's how I have to look at it if I want to enjoy playing. I do the same thing with The Show. For me, Ultimate Team and Diamond Dynasty are just virtual card collecting and I'm content with that. I pretty much only enjoy playing against the CPU or friends who I actually know. The online community grows more toxic every day so I just avoid it.

This has been my approach as well. I went through a stretch where I tried to play online and it just was not fun.
Although, back in the muthead.com days myself and a few other users set up theme team tournaments with MHC as the prizes. Rules were pretty simple - you had to have 50/50 theme teams, all players had to get team chems. We made brackets and the final winner collected the prize pool
The problems we ran into were not enough participants with 50/50 teams and scheduling games.
I would love to get back to doing something similar again. It was great to break up the monotony of playing vs the CPU - the competitors were decent guys who didn't cheese just to get a W and it helped establish relationships with other community members.
Maybe I'll put out a "feeler" thread to see if there is any interest.
Beginning of the year is generally always rough, but I agree that this year has been the worst Ive seen. While most "decent" cards the average/above average person has still aren't hitting thresholds, everyone I run into online are the extremes who have every Champion & LTD released and running glitch plays. At this point its just hard to compete with that, no matter how good you are at the game. It is what it is, so I just take it with a grain of salt. It'll get a little better soon, but (as we say every year) hopefully they'll fix some things sooner rather than later.

Agreed but if someone is stem glitching and they have half a brain they’re gonna score. Don’t amplifies how good you have to be at clock management because the only way to get a stop rn if for them to run out of time or get a fluke fumble (also impossible because of conservative spins)

This is probably the way tbh.

CFB is full of it too

I can score vs KOs, I can’t get a stop vs this. My only hope is a disengage sack fumble. At least vs KOs I can control the outcome.
Nobody likes it. I've listened to Dez and Gab complain about the gameplay just as much as anyone on here. Gameplay is CHEEEEEEKS
It’s just sweaty. Hard for a lot of us players- it’ll prolly take me 45+ games to win 20 in champs every week to get a free player.

I went 1-1 the other week, before quickly deciding that I'm not sure there is enough fun factor to continue justifying the sheer madness involved with online H2H play. I just want to plop on the couch after a long day of wr0k and enjoy playing virtual GM while testing out the latest roster changes. This game is simply not accessible to the casual player. It took me basically two full MUT cycles to start figuring things out for myself, to the point where I became one of the pay-pigs that i despise OH so very much. All in a quest to "compete" online. Sure, many folks can remain technically NMS, but that requires such a massive amount of effort working MUT menus. At a certain point i'd just rather go to my bad job, not get a MUT Economics degree on the evenings and weekends, oof. But that is where we are at.
IMO, pay to win game mechanics have no business being in a "competitive" game, of any variety. Sell us custom uniform packs, or something fun that doesn't have such an immense and direct impact on gameplay. Regardless of my constant bitching and moaning, to be determined if EA knows how to fix any of these issues, such as the glaring route stem glitches that never should have made it into the game. I'd love to be wrong and have them surprise us when they get the patch right on the first attempt, but i've rarely (if ever) seen that happen before. Beyond that, there's so many other issues that are about to become a massive problem even post-patch. Roll-out nightmare is back, with a vengeance this year. I highly doubt that gets patched and could be as big of an issue, if not more so than the route stem nonsense.
Now that many of us have received the Jayden Daniels mobile QB, it's becoming trivial to glitch our way out of the pocket, not even contains have a chance to counter that madness. It's essentially a speed boost for the QB to escape the pocket, which can and will be abused. I had no problems learning it in ~5 minutes last evening against the CPU. Bleh.
Boring and frustrating is a very apt description.
