RPOs not reacting to passing input ?

Has anybody else experienced problems with passing on RPOs ? 
It feels like there is the tiniest window of being able to throw the ball or otherwise the ball will just get handed of. 
Ive tried passing immediately after snap, waiting for the ball to be in the QBs hands, pressing when its almost catched and it kinda feels like luck at this point because it seems there's no consistency for the correct timing.
