It is kind of hilarious. Best I can imagine is that there was some kind of id mixup in the database or config file.
Like maybe the reward bundle has an associated id "177" in the database and the actual token reward is id "176" or "178" and someone fat fingered it.

EA definitely knows who takes advantage of these glitches and they do nothing to them. Yet they will ban people and swipe their coins for selling cards in the AH.

There's a huge difference between a bronze team and a team that's a step or two below elite.
We all could probably downgrade a bit without a ton of wins becoming losses. But constantly upgrading your team is a fun and addicting

Technically, it was a random guy on Twitter that just so happened to do it. He says he did the 80+ from AKA and pulled beast mode from it so he tried it with legends. To his surprise, he got the full bundle and tagged CC to show him. Then it all snowballed from there. This was a whole hour before the masses caught onto it and it spread like wildfire. Your theory is false on this one
