Cover 4 defense

Why is it when I run cover 4 my defenders play man I have cbs that’s don’t stay in there zone and run with the wr is that any adjustment I’m making that’s doing that? I have my defense alignment set on default

Cover 4 Quarters and Cover 4 Palms are match defenses where your deep zones will match up and basically play man against whoever comes in their zone.  Cover 6, cover 9, and certain cover 3 and cover 2 invert coverages are also match.

If you want to call a regular zone coverage, try "cover 4 drop" instead of quarters or Palms.  You can also set your zone drops and it will turn any match defense into a classic spot-drop zone.

If you call cover 4 make sure to shade them underneath or over the top or else the match will stay. It’s dumb but that’s how it is this year
