havent played in a few years so not sure if anyone has perspective on prior year requirements. Is it mostly 80+ per team or do 70-79s go into these sets. cleaning out my binder this weekend and just curious.
I’m gonna hold onto 78-89 but it’ll probably be like 80-89 or something like that
no one knows for sure yet tho
Ok - some thoughts.
1) Last year's set requirements were a massive curveball to us all. Namely, instead of each team's set requirements only including each team's players, the sets often involved players from within that team's division - in many cases, multiple times. For instance, you needed three CJ Ham cards to complete three of the NFC North sets! So the idea of "I need one of each card for my team's TD Hero" was killed.
2) That said, the general concept of the set build remained - each TD Hero required ~22 cards between 80-86, plus 2 88 Division Dynasty cards at the top end of the OVR ladder.
3) The traditional TD cards - Core Elites and program cards from releases earlier in the season (in this year's parlance, things like Season of Boom, Campus Heroes, Game Time, etc.) were the core requirements. There were a couple TOTWs sprinkled in. There WEREN'T cards from recently released programs (i.e., no Most Feareds).
4) There were no cards <80 OVR, and in fact, very few 80-81s. That left a lot of us collecting 78-79s SOL.
So what's potentially different this year?
1) No 88 Division Dynasty cards. What might replace them? Well, wildcards are always an option, but the 86 and 87 Team Builders are a likely alternative.
2) Because Core Elites topped out at 86 last year, more of the set value could potentially come from Core Elites than this year, where they were only 84 and below. So where is the "training point bulk" going to come from? Again, a good bet is always mid-level program cards (think 85 Breakouts and 86 Gridiron Guardians).
3) Where am I investing? In program cards that can't be built in sets anymore (SOB, CH, GT), and in those sets that will soon expire (BO, GG). For instance, good luck finding 83 Campus Heroes when you need them.
4) Where am I NOT investing? In Core Elites \<82 (they're always around, and they can only get so expensive), and in 87+ wildcards (you don't want be caught sitting on 50 87s when none of them are required for the sets).

Great write up and perspective. Thanks for the detail and time put into this response
Really good stuff from jsmiller2003 above!
I thought I would add a couple helpful historical details: There were seven different programs from which MUT 24 Team Diamonds collectively were composed: Core Elites, Headliners, Team of the Week, Ultimate Kickoff, Campus Heroes, Gridiron Guardians, and Division Dynasty. Each set required 25 items. Items from certain programs were not employed, including AKA, Legends, All Madden, Harvest, Most Feared, and Unstoppable.
Looking from the outside (as I started playing MUT 23 around March of 2023, long after Team Diamonds' mid-October release), MUT 23 Team Diamonds sets were composed of 37 items. Because of the earlier release relative to MUT 24, there wasn't a lot of time to accumulate and hold items that wouldn't be used with these sets. The OVR's of the component items spanned between 76 and 89.
(Crazy to think there were 92 OVR items in MUT 23 in October, as well as a 96 OVR John Elway item!)
If you can get high golds now at around 1,000 coins, or low elites at around 2,000, they won't be cheaper whenever the program does open up.

whoops, I read the <82 part wrong
Reason: jk i cant read
Hi guys i started playing mut again this year after a 5-6 year abscence. Can somebody explain what is the team diamond program please….thanks
my advice, unless you’re a mut millionaire, i would not prebuild. i have 10m and I’m not even rebuilding.
historical advice is great but like the bro said, last year was a curve ball and i wouldn’t put it past EA to do it again.
if you have any elite floating in your binder, leave them but maybe don’t go out and try prebuy cards. just buy the team diamond you want

Last years write up.
EA hates investors, do not look at past years sets and think this year will be the same
