92 OVR Team Diamonds to Crash by Position

Last year I watched the values of individual Team Diamonds crash as subsequent versions of the former Team Diamonds players were released. Most notable was the crash that came with the release of Fan Appreciation, with NAT LT Joe Thomas' item making his Team Diamonds item completely obsolete. NAT FS Ryan Clark's Fan Appreciation item also cratered FS Merton Hanks' value, while Lincoln Kennedy, Will Shields, Alshon Jeffery, Julius Thomas, Clay Matthews, Troy Vincent, and Reggie Wayne all received (arguably) best-at-position items. The earlier releases of a Todd Gurley LTD and Ring of Honor J.J. Watt also completely ruined the values of the Team Diamonds Master Set Champions.

It won't take that long for MUT 25's 92 OVR Team Diamonds items to crash from where they are now. They lack AP discounts, add only one additional team chem (on par with much more affordable Team Builders items), and aren't substantially better than other best-at-position items. At the moment, the offensive linemen are some of the most compelling starters, but the market is likely nearing saturation, and coin-strapped users trying to complete one of the token sets will feel increasing pressure to sell low to maintain the coin flow needed to complete those sets.

I'm approaching the Auction House accordingly.

Excellent summary phatalerror. The only other thing I'd throw out is that any Team Diamonds QB is going to be soft very quick, and never recover. We saw it last year with Fran Tarkenton, and have seen it this year with Esaison, Rivers, and (a little less), Sanchez. Vince Young has held up pretty well, but won't last long.

The fatal - and likely intentional - design flaw in this year's Team Diamonds is that they only have one Team Chem "bucket" - unlike, say, the 86 Team Builders. So I run a Packers TT, so I'd like Jimmy Graham. I'd like him more if he could equip x1 Saints (his native team) and x1 Packers (or Bears, Seahawks, etc.). But that's not how they work - you get to pick one team. If it was the other way around, the TDs would be "super" Team Captains. And they'd retain their value for the remainder of the year.

Well stated. EA will have to manipulate the market to make Team Diamonds work (if they want to make it work).

There are currently only 20, 87 OVR Team Builders in the AH (PS/5). That's just enough to make 5 Team diamonds for one account.

The cost of building one 92 OVR Team Diamond is now well over 800K. While the average net sale of every 92 TD is under 800K and will probably crash as you stated.

The math isn't mathing.

This team diamonds promo ended my mut experience for the year. Don't know exactly why but something about it just put me off. I have been grinding and spending money and had a good team and suddenly there's a bunch of nearly unobtainable cards that drop and my first game vs had multiple of them in the top 3. I cut the system off and won't be logging back into mut for the year.

Luckily, I'm a lions fan and they are awesome in regs so I'll be able to go there for a fix.

We're five days into Team Diamonds, and there's not a single set that's profitable, and some lose hundreds of thousands of coins when compared with their market prices. If you don't have an Eli Manning or Julius Peppers by now, chasing them will probably cost more than you would spend by just buying them outright.

From the moment the sets were released I thought, 'Wait a minute, every card of each set can be used in another one of the 32 Team Diamonds sets. This will only drive up the cost of all of the Team Diamonds.' Nothing like past Team Diamonds programs.

I'm just going to move on from this. Like it never existed. The prices for the cards, lower than their building costs as they are, are way above the value of their utility. For the cost of one 92 OVR Team Diamond, you can get two or three items that are game changers at their position, and have enough change to pick up a Team Builder for the extra chems.
