One of the positive things I’ve experienced this year is the quality of free cards, between MCS streams, season players, captains, aka, legends and field pass rewards. It’s noticeably better than last year - one of the few bright spots where EA is IMPROVING the value for players and providing a path to a fun experience for NMS.
Don‘t get me wrong, the pack odds are insanely bad and they have created a money moat around LTDs and top end cards in general. But they have definitely offered an option to play with a BND team that still hits TT thresholds and has customization options.
It’s woken me up to the fact that you don’t need these top end cards to compete. It seems like everyone is chasing after speed, but the gameplay doesn’t punish you for having a slow team. Strat cards and tt chem makes most of these older cards playable. The main issue at the end of season 2 was not having gunslinger on RP Jayden Daniels, to combat increasing defensive speed, but i was eventually able to move on to Penix with Gunslinger at no charge. I was thankful they gave those Season 2 players competitive abilities.
The whole team building aspect this year has been a process of “letting go” of what I think I NEED, selling my entire team and seeing what I can do with an all BND team. It’s been just as fun, just as successful. I keep watching my coins stack with Penix, Okoye and the Rookie Premiere squad still leading the way.
I have more coins to work the market and I can plan out when I want to have FUN assembling a non BND team, rather than always be feenin after the newest players for my tt and sizing up to people who pull out their wallets. If I play another year, I could see using the first months up until zero chill to rock a BND team and stack coins. It’s a fun challenge. I’m up to over 7 mill right now. Hopefully, EA continues to provide a quality BND path for players that want to feel like they have enough to compete at a reasonable level, so they can ENJOY the game, instead of being on a hamster wheel of NEED... Just thought they deserve credit for that change in Madden.
