I just tried to complete one for my squad and it took a considerable amount of time, some players were WAY overpriced, and more obstacles. I'm not sure I'm that dedicated, but good on you.

I ran a favorite players lineup til New Years then switched to LA Chargers 50/50. It took me selling everyone I had and about 1.5 million coins to get it how I wanted. After that I was smooth sailing.
I tried not to get any high priced cards right off the bat. Winning a giveaway here and 3 MUTHead raffles helped me out along the way though thankfully.

I started with 50/25 Steelers/49ers and it had its moments of frustration and expensive investments for sure. As the 98-99’s began rolling out and then Season 4 dropped, it seemed pointless to stick. Filled gaps with favorite/best in game players and have managed to keep 35/25.
The strat cards are now so OP and you gain so much from them I don’t think it’s worth having more than 25/ tt at this point.

Agreed. At this point I just run a team of whatever the best things I can get my hands on.

yeah it took me 1.5 hours to construct my 25 bb 25 cowboys theme team even tho i had most starters that didn’t get either chems

I had to plug non theme team players just to compete. If I stuck to TT I’d have a low 90’s OL and LB. To play H2H you need 99

Im currently building an OOP TT. Been upgrading it for the past few months and wish EA would be nice and give us a 97 LG and TE instead of 97s at other positions i dont need to upgrade. thats the only big obstacle for me. regular TTs have been a bit more boring this year imo since theyre all so damn good

The thing with TT and just any dumb expensive player, just wait. They will eventually fall if it takes awhile.
I run 50/50 Steelers. The only non complete ones Im waiting for is Porter since I used my 99 on Faneca. Those couple +1s wont do THAT much in the long run. They really only matter at the beginning of the year when youre worried about hitting the milestones for stats.

As someone who only ever does a theme team, I'd say it's definitely easier if you start the year with the intent to build a TT. You can get a lot of free cards for your team through programs like WCW and TOTW. They may not be the best cards per each week, but if your goal is building a theme team, you can't argue with free cards. And the various program rewards that give NCAT players are always good fodder for filling a TT squad. I always start the year building to a 50/50 team, and then late in the year, I add a second team to make a 50/25 hybrid. It's a fun challenge to build the optimal lineup.
