Strategy Items are back in Madden Ultimate Team 23 but in a much simpler format. There are now 3 types of Strategy Items you can equip for your team: Offensive, Defensive, and Team Affinity. A significant improvement to the Strategy Item system this year is the fact Strategy Items can now be auctioned! You no longer have to waste tons of valuable time and Training in search of that specific Strategy Item. As far as we can tell, Strategy Items will no longer need to be upgraded either! What you see printed on the front of the item is what you get. You also no longer have to worry about there being 6 variations of the same tier of Strategy Item. For example, there is only one set of boosts for the Rare Deep Route Specialist Strategy Item. Speed boosts have been removed from all Core Strategy Items, so no more hunting for the 2 best items with SPD boosts and never touching them again.
Every auctionable type of Strategy Item at launch in MUT 23 has 3 different tiers: Common (Silver), Uncommon (Green), and Rare (Blue), while "Let It Rip" and "In The Zone" both have Epic tier items. As the Strategy Item increases in rarity, so does the number of boosts the item provides and/or the number of players on your team that can be affected by the boosts.
For example, the Common Play Fake item boosts your QB's play action rating +1. The Uncommon version of Play Fake boosts your QB and HB's play action +2 AND carrying +1. The Rare version of Play Fake boosts your QB, HB, and your center with +2 play action, +2 carrying, and +1 throw power.
