I feel like madden could be alot better at helping players improve or understand the mental part of the game for instance in House rules it doesn't show your opponents last play on defense so you can't really tell what works against what and be certain about it. I know we have regular practice mode but the menu is slow and we can't use our mut players. Solo battles have some value as far as practicing but everything works against the CPU it seems. In practice mode I'll choose random play on defense and see if I can guess which defense they come out in and then check to see if I was correct or not. I just think madden could be alot better at helping some players understand the concepts and how the game plays and works. I would love to see an online mut practice mode where I can practice plays against whatever certain coverages I want or practice stopping the run. It would be cool if they brought back mini games or had a defense predictor mini game where you have to guess what defense your opponent is in. I guess the best way to really improve at madden is to play H2H constantly and be focused and use practice mode but I still think the game could give us better options. Football is about scheme and strategy for the most part and I feel like we should have more knowledge or control for instance we should know who all is on the field defensively when we are on offense, all we can see is the jersey number, player model and what ability they have if any. You could come out on offense and not be sure how many linebackers are on the field or if they are safeties. I really hope they add in a mut practice mode in one of the coming years cause I think it would help a player like me improve a little bit.
Fax. Just play H2H seasons alot and you should get considerably better
"I feel like madden could be alot better"
Should've stopped typing at that point man.
For someone like me, it's naturally play h2h and online in general. Not much time for people to lab but once again, you learn what people like to do by just playing the game.

Doesn’t really if it’s not ur mut team, there is practice mode. You could even make a cfm solely for practice mode.
I wanted to get good at freeforming, so I went and spammed trips te verticals and free form the seam streak for 2 hours in a row while watching YouTube/a movie. You will get better as you play. I would suggest watching madden YouTube tho. Will make u much better

It doesn't play like real strategy anyway, that's the problem. You can go dollar against a jumbo set and stuff the run. IRL that would be a huge mistake.....There are tons of examples of how real strategy and football knowledge does not apply to Madden anyway. The other thing is, often practice modes don't play like H2h. I have players who do squat in practice, solos, etc but in H2h/MUt champs, they dominate. An example.....online, Dave Casper is STILL a beast to stop. On defense, you have to dedicate a great safety or top CB to cover him......if you go zone you have to watch him maybe even man someone up on him.
I hear what you are saying, I just don't know how much help those modes have historically been if you play online

Practice modes don't really help with online play. Stuff I can do against the CPU doesn't work against a live opponent qand vice versa. Its very hard to get a user against the CPU for example because it rarely throws balls over the middle if there's pressure or any defender around.....but online, guys won't see your user or they will try to fit it in anyway, etc.....and it works the opposite way also....
