The final release of the Cover Athletes Program went live this morning in MUT with 2 different versions of Michael Vick (QB and HB), Barry Sanders, and Odell Beckham Jr. The year Michael Vick graced the cover of Madden 2004 was one of the first times we saw an overpowered QB dominate through the air while being an even bigger threat on the ground as a runner. According to Vick himself, if he didn't play quarterback, he would have been a halfback. Oh, and it's possible to have QB and HB Vick on the field at the same time in MUT.
The year Barry Sanders appeared on the Madden cover was the game's 25th anniversary. Instead of the sequential yearly moniker of Madden NFL 14, that year's installment was actually named Madden NFL 25. Barry appeared on Xbox 360/PS3 copies of the game, while Vikings HB Adrian Peterson appeared on the Xbox One/PS4 version. It will be interesting to see what next year's game will be called. 🤔
Finally, fresh off his iconic one-handed catch against the Cowboys during his previous season, Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr beat out Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski in a fan vote to earn the following year's cover of Madden NFL 16.
