In Madden Ultimate Team 24, there are 2 different types of coaching items: Head Coaches and Coach Strategy Items. The Head Coach you decide to equip in the "Visuals" tab of your Lineup screen provides no chemistry or ratings boost to your team and is only the coach you will see on the sidelines during games.
However, the Coach Strategy Item you equip in the "Strategy" section of your lineup screen DOES provide a small ratings boost to all of the players on your team. If you are a fan of a Coach Strategy Item's boost but don't want the same coach on your sideline, that's what the actual coach item is used for in the "Visuals" tab of the Lineup screen.
It's important to note that one is a coach while the other is a strategy item. Notice the difference between Coach Mike Tomlin (Gold) and Mike Tomlin's Coach Strategy Item (Silver) in the image below:
