We received our second deep-dive look at Madden NFL 22 today with another trailer released on the EAMaddenNFL Twitter account. Today's deep-dive focuses on the Next-Gen exclusive features included in M22's new Dynamic Gameday technology.
In today's article, we will highlight some of these new features but for the full-length video, Click Here.
Gameday Atmosphere
Gameday Atmosphere enhances every game of Madden NFL 22 by bringing the unique characteristics and feel of each NFL stadium to life. Some examples of how crowd noise can impact gameplay include:
- Making it more difficult for a QB to hear a play call
- Harder for a QB to make adjustments or audible at the line
- Receivers could potentially miss their Hot Routes
Gameday Momentum
Anyone who has played sports in their lifetime knows how big of a role momentum can play in competition and the NFL is certainly no exception. In an effort to replicate this in Madden 22, EA has added Gameday Momentum to mimic the highs and lows of momentum swings in the NFL. You will now find a momentum meter above the scoreboard and in-game perks known as "M-Factors". As momentum is gained and lost, M-Factors will trigger and affect gameplay in different ways. Examples of M-Factors include the following:
- Leaving a kicker in the "iced" state
- Missing receiver icons
- More difficult to execute Hot Routes
Homefield Advantage
Every NFL stadium in Madden 22 will feature a unique M-Factor that will unlock a boost for each individual environment. The home team will always have one extra M-Factor in the momentum meter to better simulate the difficulty of winning road games in the NFL. Here are a few examples of unique M-Factors:
- Seattle Seahawks - Play art is hard to see to reflect the infamous crowd noise.
- Chicago Bears - Windy conditions make kicking a field goal even more difficult.
- Denver Broncos - Fewer stamina reserves for visiting teams in the Mile High City.
- Philadelphia Eagles - While winning, Home gains more momentum, and Away gains less.
- Detroit Lions - Home team accelerates slightly faster.
Next-Gen Stats Star-Driven AI
In Madden, over 80% of all games are played against the CPU on average. Madden NFL 22 will leverage Next-Gen stats to enhance AI player behavior and team tendencies, creating a more diverse experience for those who enjoy single-player games. Next-Gen stats will help power Player Tendencies, such as the following:
- QB decision-making under pressure
- QB passing aggressiveness
- QB passing success on the run
- Ball-carrier tendencies around breaking and/or evading tackles
- QB time to throw
- QB scramble frequency
Next-Gen stats will also power Team Tendencies that individual teams are known for and will change throughout the year based on real-life stats or stats within your franchise sim. Examples include the following:
- Blitz-heavy defensive tendencies from the Steelers
- Run-heavy offense from the Ravens
- Pass-heavy offense from the Bills
Core Gameplay Improvements
Next-Gen stats will help create a more authentic and true-to-life experience when it comes to player movement and interactions. Expect more control in catching situations such as jump-ball battles, improved sideline-catch foot detection, and more control when turning upfield after the reception. Tackling improvements will allow bruiser-style ball carriers to fall forward after a hit, while smaller, more agile ball carriers will not be able to fight for extra yards nearly as easily. Improved blocking mechanics will provide deeper and faster pockets for passing. Expect run-blocking enhancements that provide more variety in animations, while also opening up dynamic running lanes.
In addition to more route running and player speed data, you will also find the following in Madden NFL 22 on Next-Gen:
