If you completed Rookie Premiere Sets in MUT 21, then you will have Rookie Premiere Collectibles waiting for you in Madden Ultimate Team 22. Today's article will give our recommendations on who you should consider taking and why. This isn't an exact science. Who you select should be based on multiple factors, including pre-order bonus items, playstyle, theme teams, how long you believe they can play on your team before being upgraded, or simply who you enjoy playing with.
Check out the Sets and our picks below:
Our Picks
*Exact positions were not revealed by EA. The positions listed are assumptions based on M21.
#1 Ja'Marr Chase (WR)
The first player you should consider picking up with your RP Collectibles is Bengals WR Ja'Marr Chase. You will probably notice a common theme with a lot of our top picks and that is speed! Speed kills in Madden and we expect this year to be no different. With that said, Ja'Marr Chase is a must-have item this early in MUT with his 91 SPD and 92 JMP ratings. For comparison, Tyreek Hill's Core Elite only has 89 SPD. So, you can expect RP Chase to hold a spot on your team for quite some time after launch!
#2 Kyle Pitts (TE)
The next player on our radar is Falcons TE Kyle Pitts. Once again, the main selling point here is his speed, which is an incredibly fast rating of 88 for a tight end. For comparison, Travis Kelce is the highest OVR rated TE revealed and his SPD is only 81. The tight end position in general is difficult to find fast options for this early in the game.
#3 Trevon Moehrig (FS)
Our next player is the first one you should look at on defense because of his 90 SPD and 90 ACC ratings, which is very fast for a free safety. Moehrig will surely be one of the faster options at safety for a while and provide some protection in the secondary while you level up Ultimate Champion Kam Chancellor. If you are someone who likes to user a safety, this is probably your guy.
#4 Jaycee Horn (CB)
The fourth player you should consider using your RP Collectibles on is Panthers CB Jaycee Horn. Tall and fast cornerbacks are always sought after in MUT and at 6'1'' with 89 SPD and 89 ACC ratings, Horn checks those boxes. You will probably need the help at CB to go up against the fast WRs that have already been revealed like RP Ja'Marr Chase, RC DeVonta Smith, Core Elite Tyreek Hill, and Team Captain Lance Alworth to name a few.
#5 Alijah Vera-Tucker (LG)
Offensive linemen may not be the most exciting picks, but this LG Alijah Vera-Tucker could be a sneaky good selection that stays on your line for a while to begin the year. With 88 strength and balanced run/pass blocking ratings, Tucker is worth considering if you're not going with one of our first 4 recommendations and need help in the trenches.
#6 Micah Parsons (MLB)
While 88 SPD and 88 ACC are very fast ratings for a middle linebacker, especially to start MUT, LBs as a whole last year were not as valuable on the field as Sub LB safeties, and playtest feedback seems to indicate the same for this year. If linebackers are animating in pass coverage, Parsons moves up our board. For now, he remains just outside the bubble.
#7 Najee Harris (HB)
If your team is in need of a good HB, Najee Harris should be considered with his 87 SPD, 88 ACC, and 85 COD ratings. Halfbacks are usually plentiful in MUT and chances are that if you select Harris, you could be upgrading him within a few weeks, especially if the 89 Superstars Saquon Barkley is easy to acquire in the first program of the year on August 20th.
#8 Trevor Lawrence (QB)
Trevor Lawrence was a difficult player to rank on this list because if you pre-ordered the MVP or Dynasty Edition of M22, you get a free 88 OVR Mahomes or 87 OVR Brady to start the year. If you already have one of these QBs, your RP tokens should be used on a different RP player. If you did not pre-order and absolutely need a QB, Lawrence could be worth considering but I would look at other budget QB options before making this decision. Trevor does get the Set Feet Lead Ability, which gives him a little extra value.
#9 Jaelan Phillips (LOLB)
Jaelan Phillips has solid speed at 87 and acceleration at 88, but not much else really stands out about this Rookie Premiere item. We're anticipating faster and better OLBs/Edge Rushers being released early enough to replace Phillips and make the other RP options better selections instead.
#10 Christian Barmore (DT)
The DT position is usually tough to fill to start MUT, but with just 73 SPD and 86 STR ratings, we're steering clear of Christian Barmore in favor of some of the faster RP options that will make a bigger impact and be on our team much longer.
Which Rookie Premiere players will you be starting off your team with this year?
