Hey again Madden community! This week we ranked the top 10 All-Madden players that were part of the most recent release. As the season has progressed, it has become clear to us that Madden comes down to height, speed, and most-importantly, abilities (especially discounted ones). Ratings just don't matter as much as they used to. If you're still judging players primarily by their ratings, you probably won't agree with much of our list. Let's dive in:
Top 10 All-Madden Players in MUT 23
1. 93 OVR Steve Young (QB)
Full transparency: we had to lock in this list before we knew his pass release animation. That could change everything, but we’re assuming it will be at least adequate. Young essentially has Vick’s mobility and arm strength combined with 90+ in every accuracy rating. He’s the first QB that can equip Pass Lead Elite for a reasonable price, just 3 AP with his discount. He can also equip Fearless for 2 AP. He’s not Elway, but he’s likely MUT’s QB2 right now.
2. 93 OVR Cooper Kupp (WR)
It’s hard to get excited or a WR that’s not 6’8”, but we’re excited for Kupp. He has 90+ in just about every rating relevant to his position. The best part about Kupp is that he can equip Short In Elite for 0 AP and Slot Apprentice for 1 AP. Kupp will excel against man coverage and he’s clearly one of the top WRs available in MUT.
3. 93 OVR Mike Haynes (CB)
With zone coverage increasing in popularity, Haynes can bring a lot of value to MUT lineups. He’s tall (6’2”), fast (92 SPD), has great coverage (93 MCV, 93 ZCV), and he can jump (94 JMP). Since he gets Deep Out Zone KO for just 1 AP, he’s best suited for a Cover 3 or Cover 4 scheme when lined up outside. He also can equip Pick Artist for 1 AP to help secure more interceptions, especially against dropped aggressive catches.
4. 93 OVR Barry Sanders (HB)
It feels like there’s an endless supply of amazing HBs this season, but Barry is our RB1 right now. He’s the fastest HB in the game at 93 speed with 95 change of direction and 94 break tackle. He can equip Evasive for 0 AP to improve his jukes and spins for free. He also gets Human Joystick for 1 AP, which is probably worth it at that price. It just hasn’t been an ability that has ever shined on next gen the way it did on last gen Madden games.
5. 93 OVR Aaron Donald (RE)
Donald has all the ratings you would expect from one of the best pass rushers in the game. He can equip Edge Threat and Double or Nothing cheaper than anyone else for a total of 3 AP. Two weeks ago, he would clearly be #1 on this list. The problem is that everyone who is serious about Madden is running Edge Protectors at both offensive tackle positions which counter Donald’s best abilities. If your opponents aren’t regularly running two Edge Protectors, you should strongly consider picking up Donald and using Edge Threat with Double or Nothing.
6. 93 OVR Jonathan Ogden (LT)
Like Donald, Ogden is much lower on this list than he would be if he were released just two weeks ago. We had tackles at #2 and #3 of our Most Feared top 10 list. While Ogden does get Edge Protector for 1 AP (and Secure Protector for 2 AP), there are other players that cost a lot less with the same Edge Protector discount.
7. 90 OVR Tony Siragusa (DT)
We’re sure you’re confused as to why a 90 OVR player is on this list, let alone above some great players. Siragusa can equip Goal Line Stuff for 0 AP. Even if you don’t use him as your primary defensive tackle, you can always sub him in for goal line situations where his ability will shine. The best part about Siragusa is that he’s completely free and you can unlock him from All-Madden solo challenges. He can bring situational value to just about every MUT lineup.
8. 93 OVR Micah Parsons (LOLB)
You probably disagree with us ranking Parsons this low, and that’s okay. He’s the fastest linebacker in the game and has great ratings everywhere. In the right schemes and under the right circumstances, he very well could be the best player of this release. He’s the first player in the game that can equip Edge Threat Elite (which is a combination of Edge Threat and Under Pressure in one ability). In a meta where everyone isn’t running two Edge Protectors to counter Edge Threat and Fearless to counter Under Pressure and pressure in general, Parsons would dominate.
9. 93 OVR Derrick Brooks (ROLB)
If you’re the kind of player that likes to user a linebacker instead of a safety, at least with Derrick Brooks you won’t have to spend AP to not be at a disadvantage. He can equip Lurker for 0 AP. He also gets Acrobat for just 2 AP, but unfortunately, they’re in the same slot so you can’t equip both at the same time.
10. 93 OVR Devin Hester (WR)
Hester is a burner at WR, but with the way that the game plays right now, height matters more than speed. He’s still a great option to take the top off of a defense and he can equip Outside Apprentice for just 1 AP.
Give Us Your Feedback
Depending on what your H2H opponents are commonly running, your list could look completely different and we would probably agree with you. If you don't play H2H at all, your list wouldn't have much in common with our list either. It all comes down to what is most effective against your competition. We would love to see how you would rank these players differently!
Thanks again to Hurc and Hodgey in the MUT.GG Discord server for their help putting together this list. Have a great weekend everyone!
