Hey again Madden community! This week in our Top 10 series we’re ranking the top 10 budget players currently available in Madden Ultimate Team. We’re hoping this will help those of you starting to build your squads by giving you some ideas for relatively cheap, but highly effective players.
This article was written on Wednesday, August 24th, so keep in mind that all prices and analysis below reflect that.
Top 10 Budget Players in MUT 23
1. 86 OVR Donald Parham Jr (TE) - LAC
At ~70k coins, he’s a little expensive to be leading our list of budget players, but Parham is arguably the best receiver in all of Madden Ultimate Team right now. He’s 6’8” with 85 speed. You can keep him at TE or move him to WR to create some crazy mismatches. If you’ve played any H2H this season, you’ve certainly been “Mossed” by him. He is a must-run in your lineup regardless of your budget. If you can’t afford his price tag on the auction house, you can earn him for free from 20 House Rules wins or level 13 on the Headliners Field Pass.
2. 86 OVR Randy Moss (CB) - MIN, LV, NE, TEN, SF
It doesn’t get any more “budget” than free. You can earn CB Randy Moss by completing All Madden challenges and earning 55 total stars. It should take you about an hour. Moss is tall (6’4”), fast (85 SPD), and has great zone coverage (88) for this point in the season. He’s a great option at CB if you’re just starting out and there should be room for him on the depth chart no matter how strong your team is.
3. 82 OVR Caleb Farley (CB) - TEN
For only ~16k coins, Farley brings exceptional value on the field as you begin to build your secondary. He has top end speed (87) and he’s 6’2”. You’re not going to get amazing coverage ratings for the price, but when you’re just starting out, you need someone like Farley so that you don’t get beaten over the top every play.
4. 82 OVR Kyle Dugger (SS) - NE
Dugger is a great budget option for your user defender. He’s only selling for ~23k, but he’s 6’1” with 85 SPD. Because he’s a strong safety, you can use him as your SUB LB and user him at MLB in many popular formations. There aren’t many better options at SS than Dugger that aren’t significantly more expensive.
5. 84 OVR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (WR) - GB, KC
MVS is a solid option at WR and he’s only ~40k coins. He’s 6’4” with 86 speed. He also has respectable deep route running at 85. If you’re looking for a great WR and can’t afford All Madden Randy Moss (currently ~360k), consider MVS.
6. 83 OVR Miles Sanders (HB) - PHI
Sanders is another free player that you earn just by playing the game. All you have to do is hit level 11 on your Season 1 Field Pass, which is pretty easy to do as you’re playing MUT. He’s certainly not the best HB in MUT, but he provides great value as you’re building out your lineup and he doesn’t cost you anything.
7. 84 OVR Daniel Jones (QB) - NYG
Jones is currently selling for ~43k and he’s a respectable candidate to lead your team at QB early on. He has decent throw power (85) and throw accuracy (85 SAC, 82 MAC, 85 DAC). He’s also fast enough to take off on a broken play to pick up a few yards with 80 speed. If you can’t afford the top end QBs in MUT right now, consider starting Jones for a while.
8. 84 OVR Jeremy Chinn (FS) - CAR
At ~23k, Chinn provides a ton of value at free safety. While he lacks great coverage (73 MCV, 78 ZCV), he has great physical attributes. He’s 6’3” with 84 speed and 87 jumping. Consider him as your user safety since you won’t need his coverage ratings at that point
9. 80 OVR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown - BAL, ARI
For just ~10k coins, you’re going to get top end speed (85) in Hollywood. You’re just not going to get much of anything else for that price. Having a guy that can take the top off of a defense is really important early on. If you’re just starting out and lacking speed at WR, definitely pick up Hollywood.
10. 71 OVR Tariq Woolen (CB) - SEA
Woolen has “Future Golden Ticket” written all over him. He’s a 6’4” CB with 85 SPD. You can currently pick him up on the auction house for ~6k coins. Obviously for 71 OVR and 6,000 coins, you’re not going to get any coverage ratings. However, if you’re looking to user a safety, you could easily sub him in and and let him be your user defender with great results.
