Hey MUT community! Last week we gave you our top 10 budget players, but this week we’re not even looking at the price tag. Here are our top 10 CBs currently available in Madden Ultimate team!
Top 10 Cornerbacks in MUT 23
1. 89 OVR Lester Hayes - LV
Hayes is on top of our list because he can do it all. He’s tall (6’2”), fast (88 SPD), and has the best man coverage (90) in the game. He’s perfect for the current man coverage meta. Also, if you are able to max out his power up, you can equip Acrobat for only 3 AP. If you can afford him, he will be a game-changer on your defense.
2. 88 OVR Tariq Woolen - SEA
When EA announced Woolen as the second Competitive Field Pass reward player, we were just as stunned as you were. This might be the best free player ever released this early in a MUT season. At 6’4” and 89 speed, he’s a physical freak. It’s definitely worth putting in the time to grind Solo Battles/H2H Seasons/MUT Champions for the Competitive Field Pass this time around.
3. 89 OVR L’Jarius Sneed - KC
Up until this past weekend, Sneed was king in MUT. He’s a dominant man coverage CB in a man coverage meta. At 6’0”, 88 speed, and 89 man coverage, he gets the job done. He’s a great addition to any MUT secondary that runs a man coverage scheme.
4. 89 OVR Stephon Gilmore - BUF, NE, CAR, IND
Gilmore is a more well-rounded version of L’Jarius Sneed. The only reason he’s at #4 and not #3 on our list is that Gilmore is 1 speed point slower. Gilmore is 6’1” and has all the ratings you look for in a CB: 87 speed, 89 man coverage, 88 zone coverage, and 88 press. He is also a reward on the Season 1 Field Pass for reaching level 41. While you might not be able to get him right now, he won’t cost you anything once you get far enough on your Field Pass.
5. 89 OVR Carlton Davis - TB, ATL, CAR, NO
Davis is almost identical to Gilmore. They’re both 6’1” and have 87 speed, 89 man coverage, and 89 press. Davis has a little bit lower zone coverage (85) and jumping (82) which will make a difference. If you’re running a Theme Team, keep in mind that Davis gets team chemistry for the entire NFC South division since he’s a Team Affinity division champion.
6. 87 OVR Sidney Jones IV - PHI, JAX, SEA
Jones is the best CB released as part of the Campus Heroes program. He’s 6’0” with 87 speed, 89 zone coverage, and 86 man coverage. He also comes with Medium Route KO as a default ability for 2 AP for a slight added benefit.
7. 86 OVR Randy Moss - MIN, OAK, NE, TEN, SF
Moss is a bit slower than everyone on the list so far at only 85 speed, but his height (6’4”) and ball skills (86 CTH, 87 SPC) make up for it. He also has 88 zone coverage so he’s going to play best in a zone coverage scheme. Consider starting him at safety where speed isn’t quite as important and he’ll thrive in deep zones defending jump balls.
8. 88 OVR Jalen Ramsey - JAX, LAR
Ramsey is a fan-favorite in the MUT community and he’s a very balanced CB. He’s 6’1” with 86 speed, 88 man coverage, 87 zone coverage, and 87 press. He’s quite expensive for not having top-end speed, but he’s a great option nonetheless.
9. 87 OVR Jamel Dean - TB
Dean is a solid man coverage option and reasonably priced compared to the other CBs on this list. He’s a little bit slower at 85 speed, but he has 87 man coverage and 86 press.
10. 86 OVR Kaiir Elam - BUF
Elam led our list of Top 10 Rookie Premiere players to kick off this season. He’s still a great option at CB. He’s 6’2” with 86 speed, 86 zone coverage, and 86 press. He just doesn’t have a high enough man coverage rating (81) to be any higher on this list.
