Gameplay
*(only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, & PC)
Madden NFL 23's all-new FieldSENSE system is returning for Madden NFL 24 but with a few improvements meant to provide greater control and realism:
- Hit Everything 2.0 introduces new contested catch tackle types and more fluid tackle interactions like "Wrap & Scoop" tackles.
- Skill-Based Passing 2.0 promises new catching AI (one-handers?), new throwing animations, and improved DB reactions.
Foundational Football
More upgrades will be revealed in the upcoming Gameplay Deep Dive, but for now, here are some high-level enhancements mentioned in EA's Gridiron Notes:
- AI Enhancements
- QB awareness and behavior
- Ball carrier AI and pathfinding
- Blocking AI and open-field targeting
- DB awareness & Pass Coverage
- Post Play Emotion Enhancements
Sapien Technology
"A leap forward in character technology introduces new anatomically accurate NFL player skeletons on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions that are more responsive and represent true-to-life player motion."
It's hard to evaluate this new feature until we see actual gameplay footage but anything that more closely resembles what we see on the field in real life is always welcomed.
Crossplay
*(only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, & PC)
The long-awaited arrival of Crossplay has finally been confirmed for Madden NFL 24! This new feature will allow next-gen console players and PC players to connect and compete in various H2H modes (PS5, Xbox X|S, and PC only). Check out EA's crossplay guide for more info.
Superstar: The League
*(only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, & PC)
The Face of the Franchise game mode is back but under a different name, called "Superstar: The League". The concept seems to be roughly the same; take your created player from the combine all the way to 99 OVR during their career. However, all-new mini-games have been announced as part of this mode that should make training a bit more interesting. We're anticipating mini-games similar to what existed back in the earlier 2000s, but it's hard to say for sure just yet.
Superstar: Showdown
*(only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, & PC)
Superstar: Showdown is an online mode where you can take your created player to compete with or against your friends in 3v3 matchups. This seems like M24's new and improved version of "The Yard".
Franchise
The following updates to Franchise mode are only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC:
- Train your players using dozens of all-new mini-games, including moving obstacles and destroying targets during training camp or weekly strategy sessions.
- Relocate your team using new cities, logos, and uniforms.
- Restructure contracts and make counter offers in Free Agency 2.0
- Experience 50 new unique draft generators, new trade logic tuning, six trade slots, and new talent trees for coaches.
- New commissioner tools allow for more customization in online and offline connected leagues.
Madden Ultimate Team
Details were very light on Madden Ultimate Team in this version of Gridiron Notes. Historically, MUT receives its own dedicated Gridiron Notes in the future leading up to the release date. For now, all we know is there will be "Field Pass challenges that unlock rewards".
