How does Predictor work?
Predictor allows you to risk your GG Points by making predictions on a variety of events listed by the MUT.GG team for a chance to win even more GG Points. Assuming you are correct, you will receive a proportional share of all the GG Points risked on the event, relative to the amount you risked. We’ll get into the math later. If you’re wrong though, you’ll lose everything you risked.
What are GG Points and how do I get them?
GG Points are a system designed to reward members of the MUT.GG community that help make it awesome. You can earn them by participating in our forums, commenting on news posts or players, or by chatting in our community Discord server. Each time you post, you have a chance to earn GG Points. There may be more opportunities to earn GG Points in the future so keep an eye out.
What can I do with GG Points?
Obviously, you can risk them to win even more GG Points in Predictor events, but you can also redeem GG Points for a chance to win awesome prizes in MUT.GG Raffles. Check out what is currently available and if you’re interested, spend some GG Points on a ticket. If nothing stands out to you, check back soon. Raffles are updated every Friday.
How many GG Points can I win exactly with my predictions?
The risk vs. reward of predictions is entirely decided by the community. Everyone who made a correct prediction on an event wins a share of the total prize pool on that event. The share is determined by the individual amount risked by each person. Let’s look at a simple example of the winner of the Vikings vs. Bills game:
Player | Prediction | Amount Risked | Expected Win |
---|---|---|---|
Wizzle | Vikings | 80 | 240 |
Legend | Vikings | 20 | 60 |
ryanromprey12 | Bills | 100 | 150 |
pdcameron | Bills | 70 | 105 |
Busta | Bills | 30 | 45 |
The total prize pool on the event is 300 GG Points. 100 GG Points were risked on the Vikings and 200 GG Points were risked on the Bills.
Since the Vikings won this matchup, Wizzle and Legend split the 300 GG Points proportionally (80/20 in favor of Wizzle) because they made correct predictions. Wizzle receives 240 GG Points and Legend receives 60 GG Points. This includes the return of their amounts risked. Wizzle walks away up 160 GG Points and Legends ends up with 40 additional GG Points. This adds up to the total of 200 GG Points risked on the losing option. The other three players all lost everything they risked.
One other detail is that your net winnings have a 10% fee in Predictor. Since Wizzle’s net win in the example above is 160 GG Points, there would be a 10% fee on those (16 GG Points), but nothing on his amount risked. He would actually receive 224 GG Points total (the 80 he risked, plus the 160 he won, minus the 16 fee).
How are ties handled?
If an event ends in a tie and there are only two options, the event is just refunded. Everyone will receive the amount they risked back in full.
If an event with more than two options ends with a subset of the options tied for the win, the winning predictions and amounts risked are treated as if they were made on the same individual winning option. All winning predictions receive a proportional share of the prize pool as outlined above. An example of this could be the weekly NFL receiving yards leader and two or more players tie for the most receiving yards that week.
How do guaranteed prize pools work?
Some Predictor events may have a guaranteed prize pool. What that means is that regardless of how many predictions are made or the total amount of GG Points risked on the event, the prize pool will never be less than the guaranteed amount. However, fees on net GG Points won still apply as they normally would. Keep an eye out for these events as they may be opportunities to win big!
