I have a great team with good run stopping abilities but the second I get back into mvp/legends in h2h I end up running into people who spam runs out of hulk formation and my adjustments and plays are completely usuless because as soon as the ball is hiked I dont get a single shed and theres a hole wider than lizzo that he runs through and I have ZERO idea how to stop it
My best run defense is 3-4 odd with 5 lineman on the ball. The heavier the better. Fred Warner is a must have because enforcer/crusher can ruin a drive if he lands a hit on the running back. I put big safeties at corner (Chinn and Simmons are ballers) and have pola mao and Byard lurking over the top. The play is Sam blitz and bring the single high safety over the A gap. Shift DL and LB towards the run strength. If you need clarification lmk.
Second the Sam Will Blitz stuff, however i'm typically setting up in 4-3 Even 6-1 to defend against (most) run plays. Blitz all LBs, Slant D-line Inside, walk your safeties down into the box and hope for the best. Typically run Inside Shade (x2) on both DTs and then No Outsiders on the rest of my D-line (x4 across edge rushers and OLBs).
Still not convinced that'll be a perfect solution, but perhaps pinching your D-line can help if yer expecting a run up the gut. Typically does not make sense to Run commit, it's far too easy to get burned, but YMMV and there's obvious situations where this might make sense for you. Shift D-line to whatever side you're expecting the ball to be run to, but i often forget to apply this myself.
