hi i recently moved from nba2k to madden
i know how to hot route, audible, simple stuff like that but other than that, especially on defense, i dont really make any other adjustments
what things are you looking for especiallly on defense and what do you usually change or adjust?
thanks
The only adjustment I'll typically make before the first drive is setting my zone depths. A lot of people set Flat zones (light blues) to 25 or 30 yards to help defend corner routes and curl flats (purple) to 0 or 5 yards to help defend RPOs. But you need to pass commit on RPOs to see the benefit if you're playing zone. Any other adjustments are going to be tailored to stopping whatever my opponent is doing.
If you aren't already, I would learn how to use free form passing. A good free form pass can often be the difference between a completion or an incompletion.
Also understand what abilities are good. A good ability setup won't automatically win you the game but a bad one almost certainly will. Having a scheme is still important but you can get away with a pretty basic scheme if you have good abilities. The ability page on here https://www.mut.gg/abilities/ does a decent job of summarizing which abilities are good. Though it's a bit outdated partially because some of the ability discounts of recent content drops have made some previously expensive abilities cheap. Vanguard is one of the xfactors/abilities you should be aware of that you might not be if you just go by the link. It can be really op on run plays if you don't have a good run defense. The only counters to Vanguard are Reinforcement and out my way.

identify what the most effective aspects of the game are, corner routes, stretch rpo, gun bunch strong, a-gap blitzes. You don't have to use the "cheese" but you do need to know how to stop corners, rpos, condensed formations, how to block annoying a-gap blitzes.
