Sounds like prime EA logic. Just like giving a mediocre NFL QB (Tebow) a better card than a generational QB talent like Cam, let alone every other QB in the game.
Might as well make the rookies better too if you’re gonna go that route…

"Generational talent" is a bit of a stretch for Cam Newton real life performance, in my opinion, but you are welcome to yours. The problem with Cam Newton's real life performance is the same as nearly every other run-first, pass second QB that has entered the league. Once the injuries start, and if you are a run-first QB they will, those guys run with less power and confidence, and many of them don't have the passing ability to compensate for running less. It is the reason that nobody wanted to give Lamar Jackson a huge guaranteed contract, and I believe that the Ravens will come to regret doing so in the next few years. Lamar is a runner, and the injuries have already started for him. He has a gun for an arm, and CAN make all the throws, but has yet to show that he can do so with the consistency to go deep in the playoffs.

Hardly a stretch to call Cam a generational talent when he was a league MVP, set the single season record for rushing TDs by a QB, and also the career record for rushing TDs by a QB. Simply put, he did things that we’ve never seen before at that position, and was a completely different type of runner than other mobile QBs we’ve seen.

Your Lamar Jackson comparison is just odd as well when he‘s still squarely in his prime and is now highest paid player in the NFL. I guess NFL GMs seem to value that skill set more than you do, but hey what do they know right?

You missed MY point entirely. I never said Cam Newton wasn't good. For a relatively short period of time, he was GREAT. He did win an MVP, but he didn't sustain that great performance. I am 57 years old, so I have seen every running QB the NFL has had to offer over the years.
No argument at all on the Tim Tebow stuff. He is without a doubt the most overrated QB of recent memory. He was the product of great teams at Florida, and was exposed in the NFL as not being a very good QB. The Madden obsession with him is laughable.
My opinion on Lamar Jackson is that the Ravens will regret the contract that they gave him. They were clearly bidding only against themselves, as you didn't hear about any other team wanting to sign him. Unless he can somehow change his game to gain some consistency as a passing QB, he will continue to suffer injuries as a run-first QB.

Well you have 30 years of experience on me so I tip my cap to you sir. It sounds like you’re in agreement that the TALENT was never in question for Cam Newton, but rather the longevity. I believe still fair to say he was a generational TALENT.
I respect your opinions, you may be right about the Ravens regretting Lamar’s contract but only time will tell. He got hurt in the pocket which can happen to any QB at any time.

Rodgers for sure, but 99 speed over Montana for 1ap at this point in the year seems worth it.
