Most coaches I’ve had have instilled in me the fact that clock control and time of possession is key within a ground and pound offense. It limits the opponents opportunities, wears down their defense, and saves your defenses energy. Whether you realize some teams purposely chew clock or not, they do as long as their run game is productive. Just off the top of my head Jim Harbaugh‘s 49ers/Wolverines and Belichick’s Patriots are great examples.
Yeah as a 49er fan I’ve never seen him run down the clock at the start of the 3rd qtr. Also I think a lot of people confuse madden as a game and the nfl as a profession where millions of dollars are at stake including your job…
i think we all know what you’re talking about controlling the clock and keeping the ball in your hands vs the opponents, but no nfl HC is going to make there fans watch the clock go down to 1-5 seconds every play to make this happen. They use efficiency, strategy and gamelan. The run clock button is a cheesy way to accomplish that, imo.
But that’s why I asked to see what this community thinks

Well you didn’t specify down to 1-5 seconds. You said running the clock. That being said, some teams absolutely will run the clock down to 5 seconds if the situation benefits them. They line up late and don’t just sit in formation for 20 seconds so you probably don’t notice on TV.
I highly doubt any NFL coach is thinking about the fans thoughts on how he runs his offense so long as it is successful and the right decision for the team.

idc if they’re running the clock with 2-3 minutes left in the 4th and they’re trying to keep the last possession.
idc if they’re running the the clock starting in the 3rd up by two possessions WITH the ball
just talking about people who have no faith in their defense or passing ability and run the clock starting in the 3rd and usually with 1 or 2 X factor running backs
The object is to win. Whatever it takes.

it seems like you’re saying winning is all that matters… on a video game. I’ve played games since i was 6 yo and been in the top 1% bracket in a handful of games which didn’t take me too long but I never had to take a shortcut, abuse a glitch, or play without integrity.
i just don’t understand the concept, it’s a simp and small dick move irl but in madden it’s encouraged. What happened to just outplaying your opponent heads up??
