I loved old gen madden but it wasnt perfect. This is my first year on new gen and I really like it so far. I would have to say it takes more skill on new gen to be a good defender since the movement is much more realistic. IRL a defender isnt taking away multiple routes or zooming around the field like on old gen. Free form passing is nice and the game feels fresh on new gen. The thing about offense being easy is that ot should also benefit you as well as your opponent. I mean if its so easy then that should help you out also. I do agree that new gen does take some time to get used to and trying to stop offenses can be frustrating. It also seems like ints are much more rare than last year on old gen. The NFL is an offensive league

I think interceptions will start trending up in the next few programs but mostly everyone right now that’s out in the secondary can’t catch a cold.
Ducati0307 said:Once again... defense is almost impossible against good players on current gen. The user is so sluggish that you can really only cover a single route. On old gen it takes far more skill to be a good user. It also takes more skill to run an effective offense on old gen because you have to scheme around the user and avoid being "baited". Offense is far too easy on current gen. Also... I've played both versions... and running the ball is comparatively easy on current gen.
A casual/newish player can come out in something like Gun Trips TE or even Gun Bunch and be competitive against experienced players on current gen. This isn't happening on old gen.
Just watch a lot of the popular streamers (Gutfoxx, Dubby, etc.) and while they're still great players and win a lot of games... against other good players, they are constantly being frustrated by how the game plays on current gen. They struggle to stop them on defense.
As for graphics... I'm old. I can remember the first football game on a PC (way before consoles). It was called NFL Challenge and used X's and O's to represent the players... and it was super fun. The state of the graphics on old gen and current gen are perfectly fine for me.
The defense being hard makes a skill gap. You said you wanted that. Make up your mind. And better graphics is just a positive. I know you say you don’t care but if you were offered a 8k tv or a 720p tv you would take the 8k. It’s just another positive, and it’s just a nicer thing to have

You're being silly. The defense is not just "hard" on current gen. It is nearly impossible on current gen to stop a good offense player. So games between good players are ending 42-35 where the difference is an RNG fumble. It's basically who has the ball last.
Offense and defense are unbalanced on the current gen... especially at the start of the year. And EA likes it this way... because little Timmy feels like he has a chance and if he can just convince mom to spend some more money on EA's shitty packs... he'll finally be able to finish in the top 100 on WL.
You've been manipulated into thinking the better graphics and performance is worth sacrificing game play. Unless of course you really prefer the slower style of the game on Current Gen. As I always say... to each his own. If you enjoy it, that's great. But no one can say the gameplay is "better" on current gen than old gen. It's just different and is a matter of preference.
Ducati0307 said:I'm sorry but the game is BORING on current gen. Offense is far to easy. Defense is nearly impossible against good players (or players with cheese schemes). And I don't think it will get better as the year moves forward because I played a bunch of games on current gen at the end of M23 when everyone had 99 OVR teams.
If old gen is so good then I guess my only question for you is why not just play it and stop trying to pitch the idea to everyone. I think you’ve posted in every thread that even has a sliver of mention of old gen
“Hey who is making the jump to current gen…..”
*Ducati comes diving in from the top rope screaming “it’s the superior game!”
”Did anyone get their RPs on old gen…..”
*Ducati busts through a wall yelling “you’ll probably get it there first because it’s a better game!”
”What defense is everyone running this year….”
*Ducati cliff dives into the conversation screaming “old gen is better I can cover 5 routes with my 1 user, way better experience”
We get it bro. Enjoy old gen. The other 80% of us will enjoy the new game
As it should be if your still playing on old gen you need to upgrade already
The funniest part about the back and forth arguments about old/current gen in this topic is while one person says how great the old gen game is we have all ignored the topic itself. Despite arguing that old gen is the better game…..
All reports are indicating the market is awful on those systems. And I’d say market is a relatively big part of MUT

This forum isn't just for current gen players so I'll comment as I please. The fact that you would even post like this shows me you're A) not able to admit you migrated to a less enjoyable version of the game or B) little Timmy who wants to think they're good at the game.
Ciao for now.
Just leaving the gameplay out and talking presentation and graphics it's no debate. I logged in Xbox One to check for preorder and played a game lol. I'm like what is this bare bones no color blurry player sad Atari shit 😂. Couldnt go back even though I'm better on old.

You see... I believe in things I can see with my own eyes... you claim the gameplay is better on current gen. I played quite a bit on both. I can honestly say that for me, it's way less fun to play on current gen. I certainly understand why some players think it's better or more fun on current gen but it's not for me.
But let's stick to a point that people are making lately... that the market is somehow terrible on old gen. I just did a comparison check on some of the most popular cards:
86 Tyreek: 300-500k on old gen... 500-600k on current gen
86 Ramsey: 300ish on old gen... 500ish on current gen
86 Donald: 300-400k old gen... 400-500k on current gen
86 Hester: 350-375k old gen... 400ish on current gen
86 Hutch: 275-300k old gen... 350-375k on current gen
Of course there are more cards on current gen... but you can literally get any card you want on old gen... and at a cheaper price. So how exactly is the market terrible on old gen? I'll wait.
8 paragraph response after you say “Ciao”
Glad to see you’re still enjoying old gen. Gameplay is so good on old gen that you had time to do a market deep dive to a guy you were done arguing with.
This is a really good debate, without resorting name calling and insults. I remember m25/16 being somewhat realistic with defense. I quit in 18, and coming back in 23 i haven't had enough time to hate the game. I enjoy next gen so far. My only gripes are the effectiveness of knockouts, some bogus outside runs and im sure im forgetting something. Franchise is disappointing but hopefully m24 gets better

You just don’t know how to play well on new gen. And I don’t know how to play well on old gen. Agree to disagree

I played five seasons at the end of M23. 63% win rate which isn't great but 2 super bowls. Hated the game and decided too stay on old gen for M24. I know many good players have moved to current gen... but there are still a lot of hard core old heads playing on XB1. I'm winning at a 73% clip over here and just cracked top 100 on the leaderboard. I wish EA would base things on win rate instead of volume of games played... but that's a different story.
Eventually I'll have to decide to hang up my virtual cleats or play the "realistic" version of the game because I know the days of old gen are numbered. Have fun and see you in another thread =).

yes, I did get my RP'S, and I run Raiders' defensive and offensive playbooks and seems to be working fine for me. Thanks for asking!!
