If you haven't seen this yet, check it out. It's a tier list for abilities made by Madden pros:

If you click on an ability, you can see what the pros say about it and sometimes tips on how to use it.
Acrobat is probably the best ability for DBs. Pick Artist is also really good for 1 AP as it makes your DBs intercept passes much more easily and they won't get mossed as often.

If you are on next gen, acrobat. If not, pick artist is really good, and you drop way less INTs. I also like to put mid zone ko on my cornerbacks that usually play the flats and set my flats to 10. Now, since they have midzone, they will cover basically everything 0-15 yards

Weird they dont want you to use DB X factors.
I always use Universal Coverage on my two Safeties and then CB1.

It's not that they don't want you to use DB X-Factors, they're just not that impactful given how they're activated/deactivated and their effect.
It's 0 AP for almost all X-Factors, so if you have the training, you might as well use something.

I guess that makes most sense?
I think they should redo the list with X factors since they are free to use (not training wise obviously)

I put universal on my 2 outside corners and my strong safety that plays the back. because when universal coverage it does make it super hard to complete a pass around and that 1 strong safety normally is seeing more action
