My offensive playbook is terrible and i only have two decent plays. What do yall suggest?
Ok, if you want to have some fun, get the run balanced playbook and check out I Form Hulk, not exactly a good scheme but it's fun and I play out of other formations in that playbook and do ok as well, I play mostly I Form Pro and random gun formations in H2H.
I was in your boat not too long ago but have gotten significantly better and now am competitive and have won Super Bowls at All-Star difficulty.
Here are some of my tips:
- I only used a few different formations that I liked. In each formation, I have 3-4 plays I like. My main formation is Gun Spread DBL Flex in the Ravens playbook.
- Find your style. I use a run first offense most of the time. In the aforementioned playbook I run a lot of QB Wrap to beat inside blitzes or Cover 3 Skies, I also am fine with Inside Zone or read option out of the gun. Some people don't like running out of the gun but I find it fine if you can read blocks.
- Learn how to beat certain coverages so they can't cheese too much. For example, a flood pass concept can beat a Cover 3 if you know what read to look for. You don't need a whole lot of knowledge here but if you know for certain what defense they're in you want a way to beat it.
- Flat routes and running back swing routes are good just in case nothing else gets open. Some times I'll just take a four verticles and give the RB a swing and then customize the other routes with hot routes until I have a play I like.
Depends on what kind of offense you want to run. For pocket passing try Patriots or Saints. I have seen some really good run schemes out of the Ravens book with all of the pistol formations. Raiders, 9ers and Lions are very balanced playbooks for running and passing. Alt playbooks can also be very fun. I just found them sometimes hard to get used to.
