I've been using the 96 Quay recently but guys like 98 Kirksey, Bush, and Shazier have caught my eye. Is there any card that goes above and beyond that I should go for?

Quay is only good if you get the maxed boosts. 

Otherwise its 
Urlacher

Willis because he gets Lurker for 0 AP, + Avalanche X Factor for 1 AP, but Quay with the boosts is a baller.

Definitely Patrick Willis. Only MLB who can get Lurker and Pick Artist at the same time for 0 AP. Then on top of that you could add Avalanche X Factor or secure tackler for 1 AP.
