for reference i have JJ Watt and Minister at the edges both with DON but seem non existent, is it my play calling? or how can i make them more effective
Are you using 4 linemen? If you’re only rushing 3 then it’s expected
if using 4, keep an eye on their pass rush points. DON drains points fast, so if theyre out of points, they won’t get any pressure unless you sub them out or call timeout

I believe you want to use the Unstoppable Force X-factors, from Reggie White, Madabeast and perhaps Warren Sapp. Even if you only plan to send three pass rushers, you need to have your USER on a blitz angle, thereby simulating a "fourth" pass rusher (even if you ultimately drop back into coverage). There are hard-coded pass block / "shed timers" that you are constantly being penalized for if you only send three pass rushers. Try running Nickel or Dime, pinch the D-line, crash down / inside and hope for an insta-shed.
I typically turn Auto-flip to OFF in almost every formation this year (definitely the balanced ones, such as Dime/Dollar), flipping plays out of Dime will ensure your three pass rushers cover the entire left side of the O-line (LT, LG, C) and you can control the SUBLB or LE as your personal USER to drop back into pass coverage, sending three, but simulating that you'll have four blitzers, which will significantly improve your shed timers.
And very few of the pass rush abilities reliably work this year, you're almost certainly better off having those AP invested into DBs. KOs, KOs, KOs IMO. The most reliable pass rush typically comes from either the A-gap (so SUBLB2 in their default position) or perhaps an Slot corner blitzing off the edge.
FS Zone Blitz is an extremely popular defense, this is what i mean by A-gap blitzer. Although i almost always Press, then put the FS onto a Hook Curl and the single most important part of making this defense work is to individually back up your Slot2 corner (on right side of the screen). Don't ask me why, it's EA logic after all, but you'll be amazed how quickly the SUBLB2 gets to the QB, he basically runs straight through the middle for a near insta-sack. It's definitely not you, the game is such a buggy ass mess. Save yer AP, enjoy the 0AP LurkArtist on pass rusher, that should get some awesome tip-drill picks.

I believe im rushing 3 only, thanks a lot i’ll test it out
If my opponent picks up the A-gap pressure, the best way to improve a 4 man pass rush is to send five. Putting the Slot1 corner onto a blitz angle will (along with individually backing up your Slot2, right of screen, corner) should essentially guarantee you get pressure. It becomes very difficult to pick up for most people if you're sending five. Opposing QB will have 2-3 seconds to get rid of the ball, as A-gap blitzer comes through essentially untouched.
