Cards seem more expensive and money is harder to get?

No where did I say "rare cards cheap". What I said was rare cards had different ways to be earned. And the rare cards, while extremely good, aren't not needed. You can earn free top end cards just by playing the game. And don't think Madden hasn't taken some things from MLB. The Field Passes were originally introduced in MLB about a year or 2 before MUT added them in.

I didn't really play the game to know tbh. definately might check it out, I think I meant to this year just didn't have time.

I mean you technically can pull very good top tier cards out of re-rolls and packs, i've done it all year long w/ coins, so? i'm not 100% sure on the debate there. 

your main debate is more sets, more names? i'm not 100% on that either because it looked like they tried to get a bunch of different names  in team diamonds and alienated alot of folks, consensus on the cards is most of the names were crap, lol....but yeah all the top guys being in mut over the year would definately be a plus.

I won’t play ultimate team in college football. I do it on madden because I don’t care about the NFL or it’s teams I love certain players the only way to ruin it is to make a dynasty mode where you pay for your recruiting like modern NIL that would sadden me beyond words. I love my team and want to win them championships and heismans

MLB the Show is a far better game by almost any metric.  There is almost always something to do that will give value towards your Diamond Dynasty team.  You are correct that the rare cards are not needed, and they have so many more legends it's not even comparable.  You certainly don't need to pour money into it to be competitive.  And in terms of gameplay, it takes true skill to be able to hit the ball.  You can't just jump onto some youtube video or buy an ebook to master it.  When I lose an MLB game I most always just acknowledge that the person was better than me, whereas MUT is a badly coded animation based RNG dice role.

Beyond the game itself, it's also very interesting how you can play H2H and almost never get the toxic messages that you constantly get in MUT.

The point remains, if madden was hurting. You would be seeing things to entice mass spending.  From the looks of it, it has been the most profitable year yet, whether we like it or not. I wouldn't expect much to change now or in the future.

You don't think the new promos are geared toward spenders? The game is literally turning into pay to play. Maybe EA is just testing to see how the community reacts, but there's no doubt that you need to spend money to have a top team.

Don't believe me? Look at the opinions of influencers and MCS players... They know the game is pay to play this season.

Don't get me wrong I hate the money/pack only promos. Ya, Blitz sucked this year the cards were good but way overpriced, and most of the store offers were bad, but if you sold 2 weeks prior to blitz then waited to buy your team back I sold Dallas Goedert's angry runs card for over 300k and bought back for 100k. After buying my team back and making some upgrades I netted almost 3 million coins as all of my AKA, MF, Angry Runs, All-madden cards had pack offers in the store so when people did open them prices tanked, and for team diamonds I had binder trash selling for 20k+ some cards went up as high as 200k for like an 85. Maybe not an ideal promo if you want to buy those cards but plenty of opportunities to make coins. While I hate the pack only promos, I do like that the big name players that everyone is usually forced to spend a ton of coins on Vick, Sanders, Moss etc... have been free this year and the comp pass players might be tedious to get but they are good. For every money spent promo there's multiple free cards. 

I just think the narrative that you have to have these money spent cards to be competitive is garabage. There are plenty of cheaper cards that play just as well if not better, for example that SS pacheco going for 2 million kind of sucks lol

Believe it or not, when people pay $60 for the only available football game, they SHOULD have a good chance at getting any and all content in the game for free. I think the current MUT model would be completely acceptable if the game was free, but it isn‘t. Yes, people complain that cards are expensive, but nobody would if there were actual ways to make coins without spending money. With the introduction of BNDs and the complete lack of good free rewards from solos, there are barely any methods to make coins. It doesn’t help that EA is actively on top of any coin making methods becoming viable, and will artificially inject supply into the market on certain cards to counter them. 

They are even removing what little good rewards they had by taking out free legends and champ card fantasy packs from the comp pass. Sets stay profitable for maybe a few hours at a time, and playing the margins on the AH is a complete waste of time. Its a good thing that the most consistent way to make coins is a trophy pack from winning the Super Bowl, but when its pretty much the only method then it is terrible, scummy game design, especially when you consider how much BS happens in the gameplay and how a loss can be completely out of your control. 

The fact that there is a “spend money style” in a $60 game in the first place is crazy, but that’s how modern gaming is. The reason people are complaining is because it wasn’t always this bad. IDK if you’ve played previous MUTs, but with how much you dickride EA it seems like you haven’t. Before BNDs we had NATs, which were most of the rewards from solos and stuff. You could still put them into sets, giving people a chance to get set pieces for free and have some certain sets be profitable at least once, and it would make it much more feasible for a NMS to get a least one champ and per promo, which should be the bottom line. The bottom line now is a BND 85 ovr when the current max is 92s. 
 

You are so incredibly naive it‘s insane. The card art guys aren‘t paid based on how much the pack that their card is in sells. All of that goes to EA, contributing the billion they make off MUT each year alone. If you really did care about those guys you would be mad at EA for keeping the madden team so fucking small and keeping the employees overworked despite them easily being able to expand the team by 2 or 3 times and still make incredible profit. Part of the reason there is so much less content this year compared to others is because half of the already tiny team is working on NCAA!

That's how video games worked for 30 years, and it was fine. I've been playing Madden since it was only 16 teams, and my buddies and I never had trouble finding reasons to play for back when you only paid for the game once.

people have evolved though, you can't just do the same old thing it doesn't work anymore. most of these things were determined a long long time ago so it's not even really expanded upon. just the fact that you don't only play regs and play mut is proof enough that you can't do the same old thing and it has to evolve.

people don't realize this but they create this equation, nothing moves without you spending your money on it, the people who play and the tendencies they have, are partly responsible for the state of the game, they just don't want to admit it because nobody wants to be wrong, it's a customer is always right attitude, and that's just not how real life works.

U think that guy is on your side but he's not.

I rolled my eyes at this so hard at this first sentence I might have damaged an optic nerve. 

Literally every play of any sports competition is an exercise in chaos theory. The "same old thing" is different on every play. You also assumed I don't play regs, which is false. In fact, I -just- said here the other day that I spend most of my time on franchise. 

But I do like that you said: "people don't realize this but they create this equation..."  You're like -this- close to getting it. Madden is a pay to play/win game only if you choose for it to be. Many of us get a vicarious thrill from a franchise three-peat. 

I'm not ever gonna tell anybody else what to do. There was a dude the other day saying he spent some of his NIL money on Madden. More power to him! But I have 13,000 of whatever Madden calls it currency. It was a birthday gift I haven't spent yet. And my birthday was in September.

I don't even like EA, nothing I said is ever shilling for a billion dollar company, your just so wrapped up in your own addiction / opinion that you can't see past that to even have a real debate or conversation about anything that makes any sense.

half the people discussing the topic talk about it on a board because in a board room they'd get laughed out the room because of how ridiculous the concept is, EA just doesn't bother to have a community manager explain it to you because all people do is burn them at every chance they get with ridiculous demands that don't even make no sense and would basically run the game into non existance.

it's alot of things that the company does wrong, but giving you all the top cards and "more more more" isn't what they are doing wrong.

people ask for new programs then shred them to death and complain about every little aspect when the company tries to bring them new stuff, what result do you think you'd get?

oh this don't go in a set it's horrible, everythings terrible, I didn't get my player for my team, it's taking too long to get an upgrade, rinse, cycle, repeat.
