Chinn as a user?

What do you guys think about Chinn as a user? Better than Simmons w lurker or B Dawk or Ed Reed  ? Or Derwin?

I know lurker is 1 AP but Simmons has better COD , way better blockshed, better accel...Chinn has 89 tackling compared to 87 for Simmons and better play rec, but as a user that doesn't matter

I still think Simmons is a better user but I see a lot of people usering Chinn....

What do you all think?

I picked up Chinn yesterday as my user, he has been good, but probably only played 10 games or so w/ him so far.

I didn't like Simmons...I found lurker so incredibly inconsistent.  He would make a great play, then 2 plays later, simply not animate.  Had to get rid of him.

The free pick artist is nice for a user as well.  You won't get hit w/ the "bad timing ball hawk" penalty, and some of those bang-bang plays across the middle, you will come down w/ it more often than the receiver does.  

I'm still waiting for a FS/SS (thats not 5 foot 2 Ed Reed), that gets pick artist + acro for 2 or 3 AP combined.  I will go ALL in on that card when it drops (whoever it is)

Hahaha...hey, Ed Reed is almost 6 foot tall !   I haven't had many instances where Simmons didn't animate but I did have one of those bad timing messages with him. I just find Chinn to be a little boxy...he didn't change direction as smoothly as I'd like. I have tried Dawkins and he's a really good user who causes a LOT of fumbles and fumbles are rare in Madden 23. I mean, Dawkins has big hitter, clutch, strips ball......92 COD, 81 IBL (Chinn has 60)  87 blockshed (Chinn 72) and Dawkins can also pass rush if I decide to bring him on a blitz .

Taller guys run faster because they take bigger strides but they take longer to change direction as well....so it's kind of a conundrum for me (you like that big word I threw in there? LOL). The good thing for me is I like to sometimes switch users because I often run nickel over so I have 2 SubLBs....and with my strat card I get both Dawkins and Chinn to 90 Man so I can user one and leave the other in man coverage, which is what I usually run

And abilities....Derwin is still viable as a user and he gets 0 AP crusher, Dawkins gets 0 AP enforcer. 0 AP pick artist is nice but I am not sure if it has that big of an effect on a user, do you know?

5'11 in Madden = 5'2 in my eyes :D

And I hear ya on Derwin, but he has been the best safety I've used all year, so keeping him deep for now.  

I have always liked pick artist for my user the past 2-3 Maddens.  You can hold Y from the snap to try and take away the high ball to the TE/seem WR, then not be hit w/ the "bad timing" if you dont depress the button quick enough if you make another play somewhere on the field in the same down.  It might not be for everyone, but I have enjoyed it.  Outside of acrobat, its the most important user ability for myself (again personally)

Thatll probably either be the next step up in cards (95/96 like we see with Elway)

So it is also ability related . I get that. I tried running B dawk and Derwin at SubLbs...with enforcer and crusher at 0 AP each you can really lay some hits :)

I haven’t tried it yet, but might be OP to put Derwin and Butler both at SubLB.  Both best sublbs in game atm.  User either or both.  Put Chinn deep at SS with his height.

I took a look at Butler when he came out but decided against getting him.  A lot of those boxes that I need to have checked are not checked on his card.. 

This is just my personal preference, but I won't use a card without the "aggressive" plays ball in air trait.  Even with coaching adjustments set to play ball, I have found it doesn't work so well without the aggressive trait. Speed is a little low also, and he's under 200 lbs....

But I did consider Butler...I liked him a lot when he played

If I end up getting Chinn I will be leaving him deep. Weapon X has been the best SubLb I’ve used so far. I’ve also been using Bobby Bell at SubLb and he has done the job very well but I don’t play Man Coverage at all.

Weird I've found Simmons to be the best user so far this year with lurker he animates and plays like a safety. No other LB's have done that for me. I'd definitely say better than Derwin and others, and sucks you have to spend 1AP but he's also better against the run and you can use him in 3-4 and 4-3 formations as well. I think Chinn is best as a deep safety, at least that's what I'll pick him up for next week.
