I am getting heavy into MUT for the first time this year and I wanted to know what is the best way to gain coins at a decent rate? I don't plan on spending on the game so I think auction is going to be vital for me.
Look for sets that you can build cheap and sell high. Try and grind as many challenges as you can. You can get a free legend now, but I would wait for this weekend at least to get one. You should also be able to get an AKA through challenges soon as well.

investing, so the champs for harvest are all going to take 5x 89 OVR to make the 92s. When the champs are revealed the prices on the 89s go up, but then as more people play and sell throughout the weekend the prices will dwindle, and then spike again on wednesday. This also works will AKA sets, you can buy 8x 85s and 4x 89s cheap and then on mondays you build the 89 OVR Set for the new player and then use the other 4 89 akas+ the new aka to build the new akas. Same goes for legends, you can prebuild the entire legends set before saturday except for the 89 OVR card that you will need to complete the set. Most of the time investing and prebuilding sets before they release will net you anywhere from 20-40k per set you do. Which doesn't seem like a lot but it does have a snowball effect, where you start with 500k and get to 1 million, 1 million turns into 2 million, 2 to 4 and so on. I'm up to 8 million with this strategy.

Then you sell the new champ to make profit I presume? I have an 88 ovr offense and 89 defense so there isn't a ton of room for improvement for me atm

For Aka I always sell the champ, for legends, and program champs I do the math and sell whatever nets more profits. Sometimes if I’ve got an excess of set pieces I’ll opt to build the champs and sell them to save time. Once your coin count gets really high you’ll end up with enough for 20+ sets, and selling 100 89s can be time consuming lol.
