Personally, I think it's a bit of an L. Even if it means spending a lot of AP, I would at least appreciate having the option to give my favorite core elite an ability. Perhaps this is signaling EA is going to be more stingy with abilities this year.
Not a fan. It feels like it makes early game cards obsolete day 1. Everyone should be going after headliners and legends asap.

Because people have to go thru their reads now instead of something automatically opening up

I think some of you are looking at it the wrong way. “Oh good luck to you ability lovers”. Abilities aren’t gone. They aren’t 3 months away. They are all right there for the taking on all of the other cards you get at launch. Headliners immediately become better cards than any core elite, and legends are the same.
Now I love the new AP limit, that should keep things fresh for a while. But let’s not act like “oh people are going to have to learn the game now!”. No they are just going to have to buy headliner packs.

I agree. You said it better than I could have. This just makes core elites less desirable. It doesn't mean abilities won't make a big impact this year
BOOO core elites are gonna be garbage in like 2 weeks just gonna save for legends then.
It isnt necessarily a bad thing. Gameplay always seems the best the first week or so. Once people find the years cheese plays and abilities gameplay is ruined. Until then the gameplay is fun and fresh the first week or so. Week 1 of MUT 23 I enjoyed the game a lot. As the year went on tho it got progressively worse.

Is that confirmed? That’s great if it’s true! Everyone’s AP limits will be used up by 1-3 special cards anyways, if the limit is only 6. So core elites not having abilities is pretty much irrelevant anyways. I hope it stays 6 for a while tho- realistically you should only have 1-3 players on the field with special “play making” abilities. Having almost every starter have special abilities was so dumb in the past.

Exactly!! Bc all the unoriginal players start copying the “content creators“ meta. BS they gave them early access. Only takes away from the originality in the first few days of H2H .

We saw this big time last year with the Parham Agg catch meta after his 86 headliners card with Deep Out Elite was released. Abilities + lazy EA coding = poorer user experience in my book.
Abilities need to go away. Make ratings actually matter again. I understand they are trying to copy what 2K does with badges or MLB with their quirks, but having to rely on a knock out to get bailed when burnt deep is lazy gameplay
I like it. It’s a step in the right direction of removing abilities entirely. Hopefully we see less and less meta abilities and more reliance on actual skill and a better, more realistic football simulation experience.
