Ive been running a cover 4 base scheme out of nickel 33
Currently have deep out zone ko on both my safeties and outside dbs
is deep out zone ko necessary to run on both my deep safeties or can I get by without it?
I’ve heard people say that curl flats are broken this year so is it best to shade down and shade up to change them to cloud flats and set my zone drop flats accordingly?
looking for any tips on running cover 4 and common adjustments to make for certain situations

shading isn’t necessary for zone defense. A lot of it people thinks it changes the way the DBs play and it doesn’t, Shading underneath/overtop just changes Cloud Flats to Hard Flats And shading inside/outside does Nothing but move the DB which isnt needed.
Cloud Flats cover more up from the LoS while Hard Flats will play more underneath
I suggest having DOZKO on the safeties because even they are meant to play inside they still can make plays on the outside against Seams, post, etc. Only if it doesn’t affect your AP count too much

Shading changes the zone assignment. Thus it actually does change the way the DB plays. Put a player in a hard flat, cloud flat, curl flat, seam flat, they all play differently. And OP is right, curl flats play the worst in this game.

Did you even read what I typed I said it doesn’t do anything BUT change the zone, which you can already do manually without shading. And your wrong Cloud flats, Curl flats, and soft squats all play the same but hard flat plays more underneath

I read and quoted exactly what you said. They don't all play the same. Clouds cover more towards the sidelines. Curls don't extend to the sideline, and are the worst of the three.
