I am currently playing on current gen and have built up a decent team. I bought the all madden edition, meaning I have dual entitlement for xbox series x. I know that it means I can play on xbox series x for free, but does my team from current gen carry over to next gen?

Almost certainly. It worked the other direction for me today (Series X to old gen).

Yes it does. You can play on either system, and progress updates when you log back in to the next system.
