Does 96 Jamal Williams work as an upgrade token for other champions?

Ive been debating what to spend my stars on and am wondering if its worth it to buy his upgrade tokens to use on Derwin James when i get him.

Let me know if he works for the elevation steps

I hope someone else can provide input here, but yes i believe it is possible to fully upgrade Jamaal and use him in other sets.  If someone else doesn't confirm this for you/us before the end of the weekend, i'll invest some time grinding out those 90 Star upgrade tokens, so i can finally max out my Jamaal.  This is a great idea, perhaps a way to extract a bit of "value" out of that card, that will otherwise be left unused for many/most of us.  Especially after Feb 28th when the +SPD boosts are downgraded.  Allegedly.  EA has forgotten things in the past.

I’m curious about this as well. Hopefully someone who has him can try and report back.

I’ve ignored him until I saw this question so I looked at his card. It takes 6 tokens to upgrade him to a 95. You then need a 96 to upgrade him to A 97. He never hits 96 so I doubt he works to upgrade other champions.   

I‘d have to buy all 4 tokens in the store to make sure and that’s just not worth winning 24 more HR games. I’m burned out of it grinding for the two 96’s that you could buy.
