Does qb release matter on old gen??

Im on playing on old gen madden, and my friend has said release does not matter. Any thoughts?

Slinger 1 if ur a runner/pocket passer, gen 3 if u throw on the run or roll out alot

Release definitely matters. The best versus the fastest feels like a full second which in H2H can make a difference regularly.
