If you're shading properly in man coverage, your DBs should be noticeably better at defending the pass. At least that's been my experience with shading on current gen. Though I don't think it's perfect, I've still seen my CBs get beat even when I shaded correctly.

It’s much better than not shading. It works most of the time but not all the timr
