yes i think it still exists.. it hits in different ways tho. doesn't necessarily mean the player gets season ending injured
I guess it all depends on what you consider cursed year. I wouldn't be convinced it's still a thing if we're only talking about recent years. But we'll probably be talking about it for as long as madden is around just because of the days when it seemed like every cover athlete was cursed.
