EA is killing it with the UL program

I’m a NMS/budget player that runs a theme team that typically limits my interest in most new shiny cards. The last few weeks/months of Ultimate Legends have consistently tempted me though. 
 

people usually drop extra thousands or millions of coins for cards that give them a really minimal advantage… but these cards are different. I grabbed a peppers for 2.1 because free UF AND Run Stopper!? (Which feels like a good counter to the vanguard cheese meta)… but now that I look closer at Klecko and Harrison I kind of want to try them too haha

terrible for my coin stack, but makes the late game fun.

I’d get rid of peppers and pick up Klecko. Peppers is nice but he’s not worth the coins, he doesn’t make near an impact as Klecko. And Klecko gets run stuffer and collusus. I’m talking klecko had like 10 sacks and a bunch of tfls over a few games As well as just blowing up the run game.  And peppers in the same time frame didn’t get nearly as much pressure, played well with 4 tfl and some sack assists but not 2 million coins well. For the price klecko is just crazy

Yeah, the built in X-Factors (as abilities) on these cards the past few weeks have made them, in my opinion, even better than the Golden Tickets that are dropping....  And for a significantly cheaper price...

yeah I’m definitely going to pick him up and get rid of Peppers once his price jumps a bit (hoping it does now that he’s out of packs). Him being undersized would concern me usually playing on the interior but those abilities are just so bananas.

Yea, the cards are pretty much all good as of the last few drops, but the balancing of MUT is atrocious and has been for years. 

I'm fine with Abilities as a concept, but there has to be some actual thought put into the system. KOs are broken because of the knockouts and instant reactions, no man coverage-buffing Abilities, Pick Artist should be like 50 or 70% innate to DBs, no Lurk Artist on pass-rushers, X-Factors are awful, Hot Route Master and Pass Lead Elite should be innate, etc. Abilities should add a neat twist to a player or something much more tamed, not be absurd requirements to either compete or have a player function properly.

Yeah I agree that the gameplay is way too dependent on abilities. That’s why the funnest time to play pvp is the first month or two of the season.

Very much agreed. The original concept isnt terrible. Making some players feel unique. Now its just so arcade-y

I liked when they updated the draft mode for the event, its kind of fun playing with guys with no abilities. Or back when they first started using them in the game and you'd have like a red H for hot route master or P for playmaker, idk, I dont recall entirely what they all were, but you could only have 3 at once I think
