With the amount of players I face in H2H who all do the same thing as the last person , I think its safe to say that the majority of the playerbase doesn't care about skill or realism

OOP doesn't ruin the game, IMO. Honestly, you could argue that it makes it better. Defense has been garbage all year and they refuse to fix it. The OOP players are more impactful on defense (again, IMO) which balances things a little bit.
Also, there is so much broken in this game... I still don't understand why OOP is what riles some folks up so much. It's the silly mode of a shitty football game but this is what upsets you most? So crazy to me.

It’s really not that they exist, because we old folks that think they are dumb don’t “have to” use them, but where we get set off is them being best in slot. As mentioned, Josh Allen can’t play NFL linebacker on his best day without getting blown up. Gronk is a super athlete, but him and Carmichael playing midfield all game over greats like Patrick Willis and Ray Lewis is ridiculous and those of us against it just wish more effort was being put into cards relevant to real football.
Part of the same problem - I don’t like it when there’s only one “best team”. The game is more fun with variety. Just have more good cards. Seems like a win for everyone. I can’t see EA making less money with 8 good MLBs instead of 1-2.

But, to concede to your point a bit, the WAY oop cards are is stupid. I remember when oop cards had clear drawbacks, or were situational. OOP cards in general not being the best cards at the game but great at specifics. I think SOMETIMES it's a little fun to be silly with it, like the years with Walter Payton at QB, or Bo at every position one year..
But William Perry with Vick-like speed, a cannon of an arm, great accuracy? What the hell? OOP Carmichael, Peppers, and gronk just outright being the best cards at their position in the game being able to do EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING?
TLDR; OOP isn't the problem, it's how the OOP cards themselves are. Some are honestly completely fine like the Calvin CB. But these oop cards that are busted are basically golden ticket cards in December and are so stupidly good you would be actively hurting yourself by not using them if you can afford them as they have no drawbacks AND the advantage of having some out of position stat advantages (such as height, weight, trucking, catching all being wildly higher than normal cards at the same position)
Definitely agree with this one. I like the less op OOP cards more, but in the end its not about realism.
P.S. I don't know if TL:DR is supposed to be nearly as long as the whole post. 😂
