in order to maximize profit off of sets, you almost have to be building in advance -- which can be difficult if/when new tiers of cards are coming out, plus we cannot always guarantee that we'll know what it takes to build these sets.  However, roughly speaking, you'll want to prepare in advance.  Use the schedule, you know what day certain drops will be -- for example, the full week prior to next AKA release, you should be stocking up on those random 86 OVR set pieces, basically spend the entire week trying to snipe 86 OVR AKAs at low prices, then use these to build out the most popular 89 OVR cards (this past week it would have been Kermit Mahomes).  There was massive profit to be made off such a popular card, that wasn't even that good.  Definitely NOT best in position, but name-value alone makes it profitable.

This process can be repeated for basically any new set pieces.  Be advised that TOTW will be delayed, due to Hurricane Milton -- so we're getting two drops of TOTW next week, which will be extremely profitable, IMO.  You just need to identify which card will be the best and start building those now.  GO, you've got a week head start.

My point is that just about everyone has spent money to some degree and will more than likely spend again. Perhaps a more accurate term would be MMS or minimal money spent but thats just me arguing semantics.

Side note, if you choose to redeem PlayStation points I would suggest redeeming for wallet funds instead of Madden points. If you have EA play it’s been a no brainer for awhile because your points will be worth more $$ that way.

Now more specifically coins

I would suggest you consider all currencies when you are thinking about how best to make coins. As all currencies can be converted to coins in one way, shape, form or another. Training, season tickets, coins, time, madden points and cash. I separate Madden points and cash because as we already know there are ways to get Madden points without spending cash. As a result there can be differences in who, what, where, when and why they are redeemed. That distinction probably isn’t necessary for anyone other than people like me who way over engineer their processes.

Grinding the promos is a popular method and pretty foolproof once you get the hang of it. Nobody can guarantee you results though.

• For best results you should be logging in and identifying the store offers when they go live or before if possible.
• Make sure you look at all the offers, all the cards, all the sets and all the activities, I’ll call it.
• You should be looking at each tab in the store. Including training and season tickets.
• Look at the probabilities, for all the packs you can. EA only posts probabilities for items that can be purchased with Madden points. The rest of the currencies require a two step conversion to acquire. So EA, I believe, is not required by law to post them. This also means they can change those probabilities anytime they please and don’t have to notify us.
• With the probabilities we can deduce a few things. Like base level pulls people will be selling cheap. These can be flipped as is often with a bit of patience or as many are loving this year they can put in sets.
• We can often deduce amounts of higher level cards that will be pulled to some degree. If every player can buy 15 legend packs and there’s a 25% chance of pulling an 87+ we have some rough numbers to start working with. If you plug this info into an excel sheet over time good things happen or if you are looking for an easier way mut.gg has some great stats available. I hope everyone here is taking advantage of that.
• Often identifying the cards that will be sold as a result of the new offers is a lucrative strategy.
• When looking at the promo cards don’t forget to identify lower level cards that will have additional value. Budget beasts and popular theme team players as examples.
• As part of the new promo you should look at the field pass/season pass, solos, h2h etc for what rewards can be earned. These items can sometimes be sellable themselves or cause people to sell other items.
• How much does the content cost, you know I don’t just mean $$, and how difficult is the content. The more costly, the more time consuming, the more difficult the fewer the users who will complete it. It’s called start stop complete. Conversely cheap or easy offers usually result in a lot volume.

• The bigger the content drop the bigger the impact. Most Feared coming up should generate a lot of activity and installs. Installs in this context includes not only new and reinstalls but also inactive users who haven’t been on since the last update. Historically it has done this.

   

Identifying trends and playing the market

This will be more difficult to do. You will lose sometimes and if you are new to it you will probably lose more often. If you are going to do this I would suggest creating an excel spreadsheet to help. It’s so much easier to keep it all straight and you don’t have to do the math every damn time.

In easy example of a trend I can hopefully use without blowing up anyone’s coin making strategy’s, is tournaments. Many competitive players not only buy the most expensive cards prior to a tournament but many sell them afterwards. You will be able to see it in the stats. Competitive players are usually smart but their timetables and impatience can mean profits for others.

In a different thread we were talking about LTD sneed. His data is a great example of what you are looking for. You can also deduce from the math there was a PS5 investor, not me, who made out great on 12-15 of them this past weekend. Congrats to whoever that was.

Oh my goodness, this is an excellent post.  I want to re-read the entire bottom portion again, but before something else distracts me and pulls my attention away, i wanted to commend you and thank you for blessing the community with such detailed and specific knowledge.

I also owe you a sincere apology for being so flakey when it comes to potential squads play.  Best laid plans of mice and men.  I still have yet to play any online H2H game since we last spoke, kind of just casually trying to keep pace in case i decide i want to dive back into MUT at some point, but at this point it's started to feel more liek a bad job than enjoyable recreation or entertainment.

work the market and find your own ways to make coins, for example last week I found an off meta coin method and it did not get leaked and I was easily able to make 2 mil in like 5 days, even after upgrading my team. Currently I have an 87 team and around 8.7 mil coins mostly nms. It is easy when you get in the groove and yeah ive done everything to get free players and items but even if I didnt I have so many coins from making them I could just buy players at those positions.

Hello! My best advice would to play solo challenges and grind the new sets challenges as well (Gridiron Guardians, TOTW, etc.) I have found that doing this has really helped me out and I've gotten several 86+ because of it. To add on the solo seasons, it doesn't really offer much of coin reward, BUT, doing weeklies during the games will really help make the solos more rewarding. 

As far as sets goes: I've noticed that the 83-84+ TOTW cards average around 40-60k which adds up quickly. Unfortunately, most sets right now are hard to complete due to cards being on a incline. At the end of the day, just do your challenges. This will help you immensely. Hope this helps!

For context, I started fairly recently, only playing for the first time mid way through Madden 24, but the end of that season I got pretty good at coin making and am now doing well in Madden 25.  There are ways to make smaller amounts through playing and grinding the actual game, but those are pretty straightforward so I'm going to respond just to the "market" part of it.  This is going to be a long explanation of a very basic first starting point that most in this thread will be well familiar with, but would have been welcome advice when I was just starting with this...

Before I really knew what I was doing the first thing that was pretty easy to identify was profitable sets.  Start with this.  Often the most profitable sets are not the newest ones, but the ones a few weeks old for cards that have retained their value over time.  Pick a promotion, filter a list of all the Champion cards on this website and see find the most expensive one.  Then go look at the sets and see what the cost of the cards to complete the set are, and do the math, being careful to factor in the 10% tax for selling cards.  

For one example, a very profitable set for a long time this year has been the Legends 85 Larry Little (his is no longer profitable or at least not enough to be worth the time that I'm aware).  To make an 85 Larry Little took any four 82 Legends cards, and one 82 Larry Little.  I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think for example you could pretty easily find 82 Legends around 30,000 coins.  The 82 Larry Little was of course more expensive because that was the key card needed, so you would use the 82 Legend Fantasy Pack set (which takes 3 80 Legends and 1 77 Legend) to get the 82 Little.  You always have to be doing the math on this and be patient and make sure you're making a profit.  But assume you could build an 82 Little for 21,000, get four other 82 Legends for ave. 30,000.  That's a 140,000 coin cost to build an 85 Larry Little, and he was selling often upwards of 200,000 coins.  Apply this method to any promotion and just look for profitable ones.  I can't stress enough that the most profitable ones are the older ones where the set pieces have dropped in value but the main card has retained its value (offensive lineman are often a good thing to look for because they keep their value longer it seems like).  Use a spreadsheet with the different sets as tables so you can just plug in the costs and see if a set would be profitable.

At this point I would just start with this.  Once you get the hang of this and build a bigger stack, you can get more into pre-building new sets coming out and investing in cards that may rise in value.   Those methods raise the ceiling on coin-making but can be susceptible to losses as well, for example if the market doesn't react to a new card like we expect, or there is a huge influx of supply through a pack offer, or EA changes up a set requirement in an unexpected way.

Here's some specific examples, although I plucked them from a reliable source on Twitter, these are NOT my own findings (PS5 Market):

• 82: bought for 10.5k, sold for 13.5k
• 83: bought for 12.5k and keeping for TOTW
• 84: bought for 34k, sold for 40k
• 85: bought for 47k, sold for 54.5k

Summary = 30 min on 82-83 filter.  Made 33k and have 8 83's left for TOTW (will make 86's and sell).  30 min on 84-85 filter, made 73k.  A total of 106k profit in a hour.

My personal reaction to this would be something along the lines of:

Incredible dedication, i find the numbers fascinating, but this sounds an awful lot liek actual wr0k.  For barely ~ten bucks an hour, i'm confident I could find better ways to invest my time.  YMMV.

I have only pulled 1 LTD in all my years of MUT, and it was a couple years ago.  My pack luck has never been great, so that's not where I'm building a coin stack.  The 3 I have I bought for around 400k.  Way better to buy these because I'll lose 50k.  My 88 OVR Wes Welker has already lost way more value than that.  

Too many people in this thread think the only way to build coins is through opening packs, and that's honestly the worst way to build coins.  I used to open packs years ago, and really all that does is scratch the gambling itch.  Trust me and everyone else in this thread preaching "MAKE SETS!!!"  I'm serious when I say I have generated a couple million coins on a Saturday.  If you watched me, you'd probably get bored due to me spending so much time on the AH, just changing my searches  and refreshing the page.  I've left those sessions bored with myself..."I spent 8 hours and played maybe 5 games, yet spent all my time on the AH."

I understand that. I'm right there with you. I've been playing mut for years also and the only LTD I've pulled was last year.

I just hope more people would be more transparent when preaching, "MAKE SETS!" The reality is that it's very tedious most of the time especially when you're only gonna maybe make a few thousand coins profit each set. I know it was more lucrative about a month ago because I used to do it too and was making 20k+ coins profit each set. Last I checked, for me at least, it wasn't worth doing unless you work the market at just the right time each week. I'm playing more casually this year. If I can't make a good chunk of change off of a set, then it's not worth doing imo. Plus I don't always have time to make sets for hours. Even when I do have time, I don't feel like doing it tbh lol because to your point, it's boring.

I love seeing so many people from the community contributing to this. It’s been a long day of travel and I’m exhausted but I wanted to post up at least a part of what I’ve been working on. I’ll finish it up and post the rest within a couple days.

One more quick example of a coin strategy:

If you are a particularly devious individual you could take the info people are offering about specific coin making methods in this thread and instead of doing what they suggest you could see if there may be a way to profit off of the cards they are selling/discarding.

Back to some market trends and playing the market. I’d like to include some discussion about sniping and filters at some point as well.

The reason I am identifying market trends is to attempt to forecast those trends and fluctuations. I don’t think I clearly stated that. Ultimately with my goal being to become a MUT billionaire. A man can dream.

I agree that the hardest part of forecasting the market is understanding and predicting EA. Which is why I have and continue to invest a large amount of my MUT research time into learning about them and their clients. Looking at MUT in a bubble is going to lead to problems. On the other hand over complicating it creates similar issues. I’ve made both mistakes, many times, and will again.

You don’t have to be my kind of crazy to identify trends or take it as far as I do to make coins. All of the advice about doing sets is great advice but yes very few people are going to tell what sets they are doing or how they are acquiring those set pieces. The more people who do a set the less valuable it becomes. That simple. Also most who are giving you a set either got the info from someone or the value of the set has diminished enough they are no longer doing it.

To make the most coins off sets a person has to be able to identify the best sets themselves. The best way to be able to do this is practice. If someone already detailed below I apologize for the redundancy.

• Pick a set from the list on the this thread.
• Go to the set in MUT. Write down the set requirements.
• Go to the AH. Find how much the set reward is going for and minus 10% off of it for tax. This number is your break even point.
• Still in the AH, find how much each set piece is going for. You’ll have to decide if theres enough coins in it to be worth it to you.
• Since you know exactly what cards you need now you can now mess with your filter to reduce the total number of cards showing up to under 100. Theres a lot of ways to do this. This is a great way to practice and find new filters.
• Depending on the cards you are sniping sometimes filtering down is ineffective or requires too many steps to be quick. In these cases doing things like switching between ascending, descending, buy now price, time remaining, overall can be effective.
• Also I will mention the catalog. I use it for many things including sniping. It’s not a popular tool but I use it effectively.
• NEVER AUTO COMPLETE SETS!!!!               It will try to use cards that you do not want to put in those sets.

No worries about squads before. I get it. Life happens. It’s been a crazy time for me as well and I have hardly played the past couple weeks. I’m ramping up now for the holiday promos. Hopefully EA really steps it up and delivers for us. Definitely my favorite time of the MUT year.

Yes!! I want to combine your dollar per hour thoughts with another thread. The desired coin to dollar ratio.

Most on that thread seem to be agreeing that about 10k to $1 is the base most are looking for in order to spend cash or at least to be pleased/satisfied with the cash they have spent.

So with those numbers a $100 bundle worth a million coins would be the equivalent of 10 hours of time for a person making 100k an hour.

Is that enough coins to entice the average user to spend? Is that enough to get the average user to spend 10 hours playing the game? I guess everyone has to decide that for themselves. Seems like at least some of the community is saying it is.
