H2H Seasons Divisions

Is there a difference in competition in H2H seasons in the different divisions? I just won a Super Bowl in the MVP division, and my opponent had 83 Jimmy Garoppolo at QB (quit after 1 drive). No complaints here because my trophy packs were awesome (made about 350k in rewards). It was my first Super Bowl win, but having an 89 overall team and getting matched up with such a lower-tier squad felt odd. 

Is the point of divisions just different-level rewards? Or should I expect tougher competition too, especially moving to the Legend tier?

I thought I used to know how matchmaking worked but I have no clue anymore.  I honestly think it’s just a random generator.

I don't think divisions mean much when it comes to matchmaking. I'm sure there is some effort to factor in skill somewhere. But I don't think it's the primary factor

congrats, I'm not sure but got matched up in my last super bowl against an animal, from what I've read on here sounds like you got lucky, seems like most people get hard matchups in their super bowls

In my super bowls I’m always matched with a better player & team. I’m like 1-10 in super bowls this year. 
 

There is without a doubt an extremely well built matchmaking system that is based on EA profiting as much as they can and it is referred to as Engagement Matchmaking. At first you’ll get hard opponents making you want to upgrade your team, then after upgrades they let you have a little fun, then match you with people that have betters teams/skill , and on and on and on. 

The matchmaking is entirely designed to make them as much money through micro transactions as possible. Why wouldn’t it be?

This is what I assumed… so that’s why I was caught off guard when getting matched up with a much lesser opponent

Weird normally it spins for an extra few minutes looking for opponent then I get a guy running every cheese blitz known and a 5 play one offensive formation scheme that is a well oiled machine that has a money play for any for action you come out in.

Curious if you bought a bundle or anything prior to playing it? I can see ea giving easier match ups when you spend money and longer you don't the more sweats it matches you with until you break down and spend then back to easy opponents

Nope. Woke up this morning and played my two playoff games, won both (had a sweaty one in my second playoff game) and then played the super bowl and dude quit after one drive. But felt bad for the guy - he didn't have any good players.

There's ZERO evidence that Seasons matchmaking is any different than it's been over the years - including during the playoffs.  It's based off of player ELO and opponent availability at the launch of the game.  If you're in the Super Bowl and you're in a high level, guess what?  You've been winning a bunch of games - good on you!  When you win a bunch of games, you're more likely to get matched with other players who have won a bunch of games.  Sometimes you get matched with a MCS-level sweat, sometimes with a newbie, but usually it's someone in the middle.   Same as it ever was.

This is the way I’ve always understood it for Seasons. Elo based (like chess) with divisions and OVR not mattering. I’ve definitely played people in different divisions a lot.   

Playoffs and SBs are generally harder so I’d assume the Elo spread gets wider but favors the high end. My wildcard playoffs are usually the opponent’s divisional or SB (which sucks). Supposed to be hard though I guess.   

I’ve seen people say All Madden modes have no matchmaking. Not sure about that.   

I truly wish EA would tell us our ranking/Elo aside from the leaderboard BS which is mostly just amount of games played.

Edit: I did get matched with Problem Wright in a SB this year and there’s no way in hell we’re anywhere close in Elo. Not sure that changes anything but it surprised the hell out of me.

LMAO - that's exactly how my last one played out, never saw it spin for that long and boom, monster

that being said I had won 7 in a row going into it so that didn't help the odds
