Yup you pretty much have to lose enough that you don't make playoffs. Not sure how much it will help since you still have to win for most objectives. Just seems like more trouble than it's worth to me

Win 4 games, get those objectives. Quit 3 times. 
 

I am beating people 50-10 and much easier to grind these objectives

As long as it works for you. Personally, I'd rather have the chance for better rewards for being in a higher division.
