Run cover 4
Lots of good info here. 30 yard flats out of base aligned Cover 2 definitely stops corner routes. I think Dollar is the best form to use for that style.
Pressing Cover 4 works well to make it a tighter throwing window (possibly giving your pass rushers time to get home), but definitely need Deep Out KOs for consistent stops.
2 man under shaded outside works great at stopping corners, but will leave anything else wide open.
Cover 3 Seam works great if they aren’t running a flat route.
I think mixing all of these into your game plan gives you the best chance to get a negative play. Using Base Align or naturally disguised plays like Cover 3 Buzz Seam or Cover 2 Invert can also help get them in the wrong set up.
Has Jordy Nelson got a card yet because he is so good he should have a 95 or 93 and easy to get

Man up the corner on the opp side you’re usering
If you run cover 4 you can modify it to a double mable/cover 2 shell. Zan Madden has really great YouTube tutorials on it
If you learn match principles seam flats will play corner routes very well. Check out the youtuber Zan who has great videos on how to play match. If I’m playing someone who is in trips I will go to nickel cover 4 quarters:
- spread lbs
- pinch d line
- man up weak side corner to the te
- user weak side safety and watch for crossers from the bunch wr
- shade outside if you are real worried about the corner route
I like this because it’s basically a way to have 7 in the box while also being able to safties at lb. I usually just run lbs though because of lurker.
not a perfect defense but has helped me win so many mut games

A lot of this is good stuff bro. Someone else said it earlier though...
30 yard Cloud flats are the # 1 way to stop the corner routes. Probably the best defense to run this out of is a cover 2 shell like Tampa 2. You have to user deep middle though in that setup.
If you run a different defense or your DBs are not in cloud flats the way to get them into cloud flats is shade underneath first then shade overtop.
BaronVonBirdman said:Learn to make defensive adjustments. The most generic way to cover a corner route in zone is adjusting your curl flats(purple ones) to 30 yards and choosing cover 3 or cover 4 so you have an over the top and underneath guy defending corner routes. Man coverage can stop corners, man can be OP but it all comes down to your pre snap adjustment. You need to choose the correct combo between inside/outside shade and overtop/underneath(correct combo as in you predicting the WRs route). If you choose right the coverage will lock down any route, if you choose wrong then your CB is getting cooked. Man is a huge risk/reward.
As someone who did exactly that cover 3 20-30 yard adjusted curl flats then watch them free form lead the corner deeper then the zone and the blue doesn’t knock it out either

Yeah there’s definitely a reason kids spam it all game, it’s kind of broken. My most success covering it is in Man believe it or not, just have to shade outside and underneath and sometimes but not always your DBs will undercut the route and be close enough for an easy pick, but man is risky i usually run zone dollar cover 4 and nickel 3-3 cover 3, adjusting outside and overtop. The nickel one’s nice because your curl flat defenders are in a great position to be switched to hard flats if you feel like your opponent is checking to a quick out or something, I actually get a lot of picks that way if I keep it in base alignment and set my hard flat to 0 yards, DBs come flying over to that bubble scteen area right at snap. But yeah dude the deep outs are very frustrating.

Yeah I try my best to get it but the second I drop into man in my TT or the pressed cover 4 I watch the deep post scamper in for a td. I even tried lurker on the curl flat corner hoping maybe they’d want to jump for it but no luck there, I’m gonna try the tampa 2 dropping cloudsdeep next and hope that works

What kind of players you running? What kind of strat cards you got?

Colts TT so My corners are outdated outside of Kenny but he’s small. Ghilly Kenny and Cromartie Which is honestly probably my problem. I’ve tried the +2 man to get everyone to 90 man and tried +2 zone to get everyone to 85+ zone and neither have been effective the man has been more effective than the zone but they get blown by in man by some of these speedier receivers i mix three different formations and give a lot of different coverage looks too and the better players just always find the hole in my defense. I bully bad players and get into shootouts where I can’t stop the better players

Yeah I mean unfortunately the sad truth is you need top end players to cover top end players, unless you are a god tier schemer/lurker. maybe you could sub in a player or two and still keep the 50/50. Also they released +3 Strat cards. they are more effective for a players archtype, so if you have man to man corners the man strat will work better and same for zone. I run +3 zone on my cbs(there is one for FS and CB so make sure you got the right one) and you can also run a silver +1 in the hybrid slot which I use a +1 man coverage for my cbs in. Also the cardinals coach +1 awareness card is the most slept on in the game, I highly recommend.

Yeah Im not bad but it’s feast or famine for my defense I either get scorched and the game becomes first stop wins or I lock down bad players and they quit down 21-0 rarely anything in between, Colts Tt just has so many holes that there wasn’t enough patches but with Reggie giving x3 I can definitely help them out if I don’t corner upgrades soon.

Yeah I’m running 50/50 Harvest chem so I’m rich in DBs and boy are they something special especially JPJ and Prime Time
