For example, to get the Film Study ability for Joe Alt CB you have to "achieve 94 awareness" or to get "Tackle Supreme" you have to "achieve 95 tackle". How do you achieve this?

You can't. The base ratings of a card determine which abilities are available. In practice this means no matter what boosts you apply to a card, that card will not be able to equip more abilities. Basically for abilities what you see is what you get
