How far has EA strayed from Coach Madden's vision?

"There were only six players on the field and some had arrows and X’s, and it just wasn’t a real football play,” Oldenburg recalled. “And he was like: ‘That play can’t be in my game. If that’s from the playbook, take it out. That’s not a real play.’ We stopped our creative review for the year with Coach Madden to discuss a diagram in a PowerPoint deck. That’s how much into the details he was around authenticity. And we never made that mistake again.”

Starting with the OOP nonsense, unrealistic abilities, and the constance exploits going against conventional football strategy, EA obviously sold out from the original version for 💰💰.

• Did Coach sell out as well knowing the game had become an unrealistic joke?

The only vision EA is guided by is one of piles and mountains of cash in a Scrooge McDuck style vault. It has the only NFL video game license and it owns the rights to Madden's name and likeness in perpetuity.  At some point Coach Madden made a deal to benefit his family, which I get.  I don't think he knew EA would slap his name and face on a turkey leg flavored condom if the NFL allowed it and market research showed it would sell more MUT points.  But here we are. Coach Madden is gone, the magic of Madden NFL past has been gone for well over a deacade. All EA does every year is keep stomping on this hollow, empty tube of toothpaste of a game that inexplicably spits  out hundreds of millions of dollars to their bottom line every year.  It's baffling when you think about it.  

Madden '23 will be remembered, and it should be, as the year the Madden cover curse came for John Madden.

The X-Factors alone and abilities are far stretched from authentic football. in the real NFL, last time i checked linebackers could jump, but in mut they can’t. players shouldn’t need PA to go and catch a ball either…

they need to actually make stats matter because 99 hit power on sean taylor and brain dawkins doesn’t do dirt. meanwhile they give these random rookies 99 hit power? B Dawk and Taylor are some of the hardest hitters ever, make that representable in the game. Guys who excel at these things should be in their own division for these stats or abilities. The game just creates numerous 99s with a different name on their jersey who all play the exact same
