I've watched Zan and a few other guys swear by match coverage, claiming cover 3 seam and cover 4 quarters and such clamp up the whole field and for me, it can't be any further from the truth. Myou opponents are literally just picking me apart with the simplest shit if I just leave match to let the AI figure shit out. Had guys run gub bunch verts stock and the long crossed gets wide open everytime. It is driving me insane!!! Yet, all of my opponents' defenders seemingly take away every deep corner and flat even with flood concepts. My only solution I can think of is to go back to manually setting the depths but it's so frustrating that apparently other players can just sit there mindlessly with match on and the AI does what it's supposed to do, but mine dont.
So you are complaining because you want to have lock down ZONE coverage with out setting any type of adjustments?
You are prob one those players before patch that was running press man blitz all the time.
When you are a zone player you will have to learn on your own how to lock down certain routes and route combination, you have to set those adjustments yourself…the ai isn’t going to do those pre snap adjustments for you.

ive been running match for yrs no prob....you have to understand match principles and concepts, what to run against what formation. if you dont understand these match principles/concepts you have zero chance
Im not sure you even know what match coverage is based on what I can gather from your post. I dont mean that to be an insult i legitimately think you are expecting it to do something that has really nothing to do with it. Match is not a simple on off switch to make your AI smarter or anything like that.
Its actually pretty complicated and depends alot on on the fly reacting to what the receivers do.
At least post patch, if ANYONE in your coverage is committing blown assignments, its likely you usering. Either way, I think you are better off turning it off unless your usering a pass rusher or something.
Match has been patched but it’s still doesn’t play correctly against certain formations like bunch and tight. I still run cover 4 palms Quarters cover 6 but it all depends on what formation my opponent is in.
Also every person responsibilities in match can change depending on the routes. I user the safety’s cause I know if the number 2 goes vertical I got him man to man if he’s shallow and I can double number 1 or watch for a back side crosser from the number 3.
you need to understand football to really run match go on YouTube there’s some good coaching videos

yeah zone is only good with match if you practice enough to understand what presnap adjustments need to be made... cover 3 usually I go underneath right away then switch one hard flat to man, it's not good running from stock since alignments and zones get messed up.. need to run practice and look at what you should adjust otherwise just run man and pray for the best
different matches vs different formations, you gotta know when to call what. however, if you watched zans last video on match being broke the rules vs bunch basically cause your corner and safety to cross man and bump into each other and allow 1 play tds.

Preciate you giving legit constructive feedback without the condescension. I do understand football and strategy including what zones do what and what depths take away routes and such, I've just always did it manually. I think one thing you said that really made it click for me is that you user the safety and know his exact assignment in the coverage you called - I know from some of Zan's videos on it, he explained the numbering system for the WRs and the assignments of each defender according to them. Now, I admit I wasn't familiar with those. And I'd say I'm an elite-level user, but I have always usered the middle lb/subs more than anything else. Im good with the safeties too, but I like the comfort of having help behind me if needed. So, yeah, until I memorize the assignments for each coverage, I probably will just run my manual zone depths for the time being.
Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome any time.
it's def a learning curve but well worth it. play mostly match against spread formations and non-bunch 3x1 sets and have a lot of success. but I don't run it against bunch or other compressed sets as too much seems to be able to go wrong, and never have used it against 4x1 sets. but once you start to figure it out it makes getting pressure much more likely as the QB is taking longer to get the reads.
